Time and a Word Cover

My vinyl copy of Time and a Word has a black and white cover photo of a naked nude lady in the buff with no clothes on. Her head is out of sight, being beyond the door of the check tiled floor upon which she so decorously reclines. A stategically placed butterfly is before her. Does anyone know if t...

Nottingham Yescapade

The tickets for this event are now on sale! Anyone else likely to be going? (an appearance by the band members is as yet unconfirmed, but seems likely). The price is £22.00 including brunch/ £13.20 w/o brunch via credit card payment or £20/£12 via paypal or mail order. Brunch is meat-free and will a...

Sheffield and Nottingham

I've delayed writing a review of the two gigs I attended, I suppose because I was so daunted by the idea of trying to put my feelings into words. Now I suppose the moment has passed a little... so I'll just jot out a few impressions. I have to get the negatives out of the way first - I don't want to...

Jon's beliefs

I haven't started a thread in quite a while, I suppose I'm a 'reactive' kind of guy, but I was thinking about this the other night... We talk a lot about the 'message' and ethos of the band, but does anyone know what Jon's spiritual beliefs are? It may be documented somewhere (I haven't read any of ...

Anyone else seen 'The Contender'?

I bought this on DVD and finally got around to watching it last night. (I picked up the disk sans packaging from a local market for £4). Relevance? - well the score is by recent Yes contributor Larry Groupé. I honestly wouldn't have recognised it through any stylistic links with Magnification - it w...

Dreamship: the windy review.

N2: you may feel that this is another thread that belongs in Alternate Tunes and I wouldn't disagree. But we do seem to be establishing that the album deserves maximum exposure, which is why I'm posting this as a new thread as opposed to tagging it to the end of your own excellent effort. Move it's ...

Heathen

I've had the new Bowie album since its release a fortnight ago and still have slightly mixed feelings. The material is strong but the album it most resembles is probably its predecessor, Hours. Probably for that reason alone it is slightly disappointing. It has something of a retropective feel and s...

100 Great Britons: Whither Yesmen?

OK, this is just a dragonfly’s wing-thin (Ah - there’s the Yes connection<img src=pix/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>), pretext for gauging my international Yeschum’s opinions. The UK has just had a poll of 100 Great Britons [of all time]. The top ten were all shuffled off this mortal coi...

Test for echo

Now the currrent tour is over I can here my voice reverberating around the vast loftly halls of the Concert talk venue. But before I finish sweeping up all the butt-ends and sweet wrappers and work on those troublesome beer stains on the upholstery. Before I've gotten out the dust covers and switche...

How do I get it to play?

Help - I've just d'loaded the latest version of the file (6.6Mb called Starshiptrooper44.rm), and the ƒ¥©<=?^ç thing won't play! An earlier version with just Ed on the Midi came out fine (that was perhaps an mp3 file). Remember, I'm using a Mac - it's trying to load in excel. What file format is this?

Ozric Tentacles

As I mentioned in Hennie's 3 last records thread, I recently acquired the Ozric Tetacle's album Arboressence, which I'm quite enamoured with. I can't imagine there are many familiar with their stuff, but as it's all knew to me - can anyone tell me more about this band? Is their catalogue entirely in...

Instru-mental

Inspired by my purchase of an Ozric Tentacles disc, I thought I'd keep this question separate: What are your favourite instrumental tracks - I'm thinking mostly well-known singles, but feel free to mention anything. To kick off I will mention the tracks Hocus Pocus and Sylvia from one of my favourit...

Focus Gig

I attended the Classic Rock Society Focus gig on Saturday and it fulfilled another long-held ambition: To see the other of my two favourite bands live! I missed out completely in the seventies - they broke up shortly after I got into the magnificent Dutch band so I had to content myself with the tre...
