Same e-mail address Kevin. That the first chord above looks incorrect, and the first page or two is not consistent with what I worked out, and what I see on the Keys DVD. Obviously, the same thing can be played many ways on the guitar which is part of the fun. But in that opening chord "11" should b...

TOTC tab

Thanks for the tab Kevin (as I remember your name is Kevin; it's been a longtime). What I am planning to do is learn the version that Steve does with Annie Haslam. I plan to perform it as a duet, and on that recording Steve's guitar is fairly unobstructed most of the way through. I'm going to try an...

RE: scales

Want to forget about scales, and play melodically? check this out:
http://www.thatllteachyou.com/

I have been using this technique for 3 years, and haven't thought about a scale since. I have brought this up before, and can honestly say it's the last guitar book you will ever need.

ST guitar effects

I remember reading somewhere, I thought in Steve Howe's Q&A section, where someone asked him about the guitar effect on Starship Trooper. As I recall, he mentioned an old phaser, called Echoplex?? I have not been able to relocate the Q&A, and I wondered if anybody knew anything about this. I would l...

Go here http://planetalk.thatllteachyou.com/video.html

Buy the book & video. You'll never need to remember a scale again and you'll want to throw away all of your theory books.

thanks!

Thanks for the tab/info. I've been playing all but "leaves" section, and was ready to start working out that part. btw, those that have SH GTR Pieces likely know that in keeping with tradition, there are some major transcription errors on this one too.

LAGQ does MFAD

Wow. I'm blown away! Drove up to Austin Friday night to see the L.A. Guitar Quartet(Scott Tennant, et al.). So I'm browsing through the program, and I come to a page that has the evening's playlist. There's the usual 1st set, intermission, then second set. The 2nd set is titled "Guitar Heroes". I sc...

RECITAL

Yeah, I'm still around, so here's about last Saturday. My instructor put on his 3rd annual guitar recital, and for the 2nd year, I played. Last year it was Horizons by Hackett. This year it was MFAD, and then me & Kevin(instructor) did a medley of ANAI & Wurm. I used my Takamine 12 string for the in...

New Clap tab

Anyone see the transcription of Clap in the latest issue of GWA?? I took a look at it last nite and I respect the author's interpretation, but he's obviously never seen Steve actually play the piece.

Thanks again Conall

Howe graces cover of GWA

Just hit my desk today, the latest issue of Guitat World Acoustic magazine, and Steve has the front cover with some of his vintage acoustic guitars. It looks like a Howe/YES 35th subject matter. Hope it's good!

Finished the piece a few weeks ago. Amazing how "short" it seems compared to 20+ years of listening to it. Still working on a few difficult runs and chord changes near the end, after that, I should be able to increase the tempo. For now, it's in my head and the transcription is a real mess. I hope t...

more surface tension

I happen to be working on that piece at the moment. I'm primarily using SH Guitar Pieces as a source, and it's a real mess of a transcription. I don't know if the guy was lazy, or what, but there are a lot of errors and ommisions. Most all of the tabs I've seen are wrong too(please, take no offense!...

oK, I'll come out of hiding and bite on this one. Seems most of us here are push'n 40's, except for child Iggie. I bought an Epiphone 12 string when I was 16. Wrong gtr choice as a 1st gtr, imo. Hey, nice topic! But let's try and refrain from "who better" and talk about "preferences" instead. There's threads around here on that subject ad nauseum. Hey, I like Rabin's voice too, particularly when harmonized with Jon. I also preferred the name Cinema for that era.
