Re: The New Wave of Prog- recommendations for fellow Yestalkers

Three rec's here: first a band featuring old friends of mine: prog rock and thrash metal mixed in, maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but good drumming and odd arrangments: www.myspace.com/eravulgaris Second: Andromeda, from Sweden: very complex drumming, great vocals, superb bass, and strange lead gui...

Re: YES - Union

Well, mental blocks are usually bad....I never would have discovered Yes if I hadn't overcome my suspicions about their hippy-trippyness.Now I use youtube to sample any new music, like Russian Circles, and if I like it, I buy the record.Simple as. As for Union: crank the bass setting on your hi-fi a...

Re: YES - Union

Can't understand that attitude...the album can be bought for €10,it can be downloaded legally and illegally, and it's all on youtube anyway, so how hard can it be to sample?

I know there's a lot of music out there, but Union is really a pretty good album and well worth pushing up the to listen list.

Re: Dig "Generator"?

I really think this is a great record: it's so perfectly summertime 1987 it almost hurts to listen to it.I guess it benefits from memory projection and nostalgia and so forth, but it reminds me of the 1980's which I love, so yes I Dig Generator.Could use a re-mix and another song to round it out tho...

Re: GOING FOR THE ONE

Definitely the most complete and ambitious Yes album, sounds nothing like the 80's despite the fact that it was a transitional album....it sounds very prog, very epic, very cool!

Re: YES - Union

I only joined the forum to defend Union: as you can probably guess, I really love this album...it's a perfect early 90's slice of 'modern' rock. Fits in nicely alongside Innuendo and RATM's first albums...those years were very diverse for music. As for Union itself, it should be a complete disaster,...

Re: Tormato...

Tormato's not a bad record by any means, but I find certain sections of it a bit twee, and I felt some of the lyrics had a rare but noticeable throwaway quality. I actually really like the artwork though!

Re: Does The Ladder really suck?

The Ladder is good, but not great...very odd album altogether.I like it for its weirdness.

Talk is great btw...only one filler track on the whole thing.

Re: Open Your Eyes: Finally Bought it - Excellent!

It's a very good Yes album: why do people think it controversial? It's got some great production values- very ballsy. It's also got about 5 really classic tracks too.
