Going to the show at the Meadows tomorrow!

Though I ruined it for myself by checking a setlist and am a little bummed that they aren't playing the tune I wanted to see the most, I'm still really looking forward to seeing the current version of the band. You know how when you're friends with a couple who were together forever then they break ...

Re: Nice Yes shirt sighting

Circa Survive is a good band. I really like the singers style. Not "prog rock" per se but for sure more forward-reaching than your average band and you can hear the prog influences. My brother was really into these guys for a while.

Yes - SMOKIN' LIVE VERSION OF Heart Of The Sunrise 1994 Talk Tour - YouTube vid

I felt the need to repost this because I remember this tour being just exceptional. I was a little disappointed they were back to the 90125 lineup but this ended up being a fantastic tour and the Talk album was good too. I remember "Endless Dream" being like a modern "Awaken" in a way. Good memories...

Re: HOLY SHIT! Do I really have two front row seats to see Renaissance? Pinch me.

The keyboard work is spot on - you would expect t wit Brislin- he did a superb job with Yes- they are all very fine musicians - personally I hear too many mistakes and flats pus a lack of vocal strength for my liking but she is doing a great job given she is in her late 50s early 60s Considering th...

Re: HOLY SHIT! Do I really have two front row seats to see Renaissance? Pinch me.

I am a hugh Renaissance fan and have been so for almost 30 years- I have drawn people's attention to them on this forum on a number of occasions- I thought that Tuscany- Renaissance's 2001 comeback album (albeit without Squire-alike- Jon Camp) was a good effort- but Land of the Rising Sun- the live...

Re: HOLY SHIT! Do I really have two front row seats to see Renaissance? Pinch me.

You've made a good point, and maybe humour does belong in music... ...but only if it's funny. I mean, I'm British and whilst I find the whimsical ramblings of Peter Gabriel midly amusing, it doesn't really justify their position above the music, IMO. The band are obviously better than most, which i...

Re: HOLY SHIT! Do I really have two front row seats to see Renaissance? Pinch me.

Interestingly, I've never been particularly moved by Genesis. I've heard Foxtrot, Selling England, etc, but I just don't really get any "feeling" from it. Obviously all prog bands are different and Yes are my favourite, but there's something about Genesis that just makes me sort of ignore them. Hac...

Re: Yes Tribute@Classic Fest!Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park, 6-11/13th! Garretsville, OH

Yes usually events there are based around tributes. They do the 5 day greatful fest there with dark star orchestra and tons of other tribs which everybody tells me is as epic a hippie campout as it gets!

Shame you cant make it I have a feeling this years is gonna smoke last years.

Yes Tribute@Classic Fest!Nelson's Ledges Quarry Park, 6-11/13th! Garretsville, OH

I looked these guys up on YouTube and musically they have the Yes sound of the classic period studio albums nailed. They focus on the bi...

Re: Posting

*****FYI Im having issues posting too. Honestly, I don't feel the need to talk any shit on this lineup. Yes you heard me correctly. HOLY SHIT! Do I really have two front row seats to see Renaissance? Pinch me.

I can't fucking believe it. My mom calls me from work and she's like "Hey, you want some Renaissance tickets for your birthday?" First, I think she has no clue what she's talking about. Second, I think she has no clue what she's talking about. I'm thinking she stumbled upon some like, Renaissance mu...

Yes live at HOB tonight in Cleveland!

Really considering it. I'd love to hear Machine Messiah and Tempus Fugit live again. Plus its standing room only so if I go super early I can see real good. Shit, I just may have to go! Anybody else?

Re: OYE - is it really all THAT bad?

Yes, it's that bad. Actually it's not what I'd consider a classic awful album - it's just completely generic and unmemorable. The cover art is totally appropriate. If they really thought the music was great they would have taken more time on the packaging. I found out about that album by finding it ...

Re: No Jon For 2010 Tour!

I've never paid the extra money for the backstage privilege. If I happen to meet any of the band members through serendipity, then great. But I've never felt moved to pay extra just to meet them with one lone exception - I did buy the t-shirt at one of Jon's solo tours with the caveat he'd be signi...

Van Der Graaf Generator

For some reason I never really gave much thought to checking these guys out in the past, but on a whim decided to buy their H to He album after reading some good stuff about it online on various prog websites. Re: Songs from Tsongas DVD

On the first page I posted in this it was 2005. Now on the second page its 2010? WTF??? hahaha I still think this is the best live document of the band, this and QPR. It's funny I recently let a buddy of mine borrow it and he loved it. I think my copy's totally ruined too, like most all of my cds.

Re: Some Yes what-ifs

What if Phil Collins actually auditioned for the drummer spot and got the gig back in '68? -Jon Anderson would have left for an immensely successful solo career around 1975 and Phil would take over lead vocals. What if Peter Banks wasn't let go from the band? -Prolly would have done a couple more a...

Naah, I didn't really take it amiss. I do remember though it being a bigger deal when I turned 30 than when the 40 thing happened. 50 I'm not looking forward to, but it is just a number - positive and healthy are the key things. I was only also playing devil's advocate with the cunt word [surpising...
