There's likely to be a certain fit between being left-wing or left-leaning on the one hand (left hand? hehe!) and YES's themes and Jon's lyrics on the other, it seems to me. YES was one of the first bands I got into. Their music ASTONISHED me at the age of 11. I also think that had an influence on m...

In reply to TENVOICES: I think the studio stuff from KTA is very good, not least because it IS a return to the classic YES sound. The tracks seem weak in places, but you can tell the band operated tightly in the studio. FOOTSTEPS and BE THE ONE build up from mediocre beginnings to become very forcef...

UNION has often been called a rip-off by YES fans and critics. I think this is near the truth, though there are fortunately some saving graces there. An album of outtakes it's been called, but Howe's MASQUERADE, a very fine classical guitar piece, the wonderfully passionate THE MORE WE LIVE - LET GO...

What if ALL the member of YES, past or present, or most of them, got together to do a TRUE Union album? Think of how great that would be? At this stage in their careers, having had so many twists and turns with this band, that would be a vague possibility. BUT, for me, the GREATEST 'What if..?' woul...

Delighted yet dismayed to know that Mr. Moraz was around at that time, bataisflow, because a great album (THE LADDER) could have been much greater with PM on it. One of the great things about RELAYER was how YES managed to make a virtue from some of their quirkier sounds. This shows through a lot on...

What's the difference between favourite and best in the case of a matter like this one? Well, for me the first YES music I properly heard was YESSONGS at the tender age of 11. What an impact at that age! And, the album sleeve artwork really connected to the music with a massive impression at that ag...

People who don't use YEStalk to discuss matters related to YES and related music and themes. Those guys are just SO annoying. Any views?

Of course, the only vocalist who could really replace Anderson, and legitimately so, would be the joint-corepiece of this band: Chris Squire. His vocals sound like Jon's when he wants, and he's done vocals with Jon, including harmonies. I'd really like to hear Chris doing more vocals in future with ...

Leave Steve alone! By the way, Dr. Yes's quote is from a great and classic UK kid's animation program called 'Bagpuss'. This is the bit the mice sing. On a more worthwhile note, apart from having a go at Steve for his age and appearance, it is better to realise that the apex of his career in YES, th...

I know all this 'What if...' gets a bit silly, but obviously YES fans are going to think about possibilities, because it's the nature of caring for the band and the music so much. I think Khoroshev did a good job, though his keyboards could have been a bit more upfront. I take your point about takin...

I don't know if we can say the name YES doesn't matter at all. It does convey something very appropriate about the music; the fact that it all sounds very positive, though often in a vague kind of way. Anderson's lyrics are usually deeply impressionistic though somehow project something positive, bu...

Dr. Yes, Yes, Steve is past his best. But, he is still great. His playing seems to have waxed and waned in quality over the years, which is strange compared to other guitar greats. RELAYER is surely his crowning glory. GFTO was very good too, though somehow different to RELAYER. TORMATO, just one ye...

I have to agree with stye for this one; 'YES must live on.' I also foresee a future where established members may well leave, but be replaced by younger members, some of which have previously been in the band plus newcomers, to continue to develop the YES sound. After all, never forget that it has b...

I think the reason why the amazing version of STARSHIP TROOPER on YESSONGS finishes with Alan's crash cymbals is to allow Jon to come in with that final sustained vocal note, which finishes it all off very nicely and appropriately for a live album. The original on TYA develops well with Steve's self...

Alan is a very competent drummer with much experience of drumming with many artists before he joined YES. Nobody could put him in the same class as Peart, Bonham or Mason, but he could make a top ten listing. His crowning glory of achievement in YES must be his brief solo on SOUND CHASER. Wonderful!...

Even if they are coming here they won't reveal their ID, because who could believe it so easily? 1. TORMATO - As a teenage YES fan, this greatly annoyed me coming after the undeniably top five best GFTO. How the hell did they get from GFTO to TORMATO? There are some saving graces though. I think they will make an album next year. They seem to make one every two years since the nineties. They may try to avoid sounding like KTA, but may well fail. Partly because of this idea that somehow this lineup is THE classic YES lineup. But why should that be? I could never understand it. They r...

yeskat,

I hope then that they will take this idea seriously, since I'm sure there are others out there who would like the same: please, please, please guys, let Patrick Moraz back to do at least one more album with the band before they call it a day forever? Who agrees?

N2Yes, Dr Yes, John Flanagan, In response, I can't say that I know much about drumming because I can't play the drums! But I know what I like. The fighting's over. I've revealed myself as an over-emotional Welsh fool (The Welsh ARE emotional), I've taken offence easily, and I withdrew into over-defensiveness which became offensive to some. If I posted a new topic like this I might get knocked for it!
