bumping this one back up.

Mostly Autumn now have a video for one of the forthcoming tracks from their new album available for download or streamed viewing.

A bit 'rockier' than might be expected, but pretty good all the same.

I am sure it will sound even better in full since none of the souring guitar solos' are on the sound clips. Also, they always put their prog opus at the end of the CD; and judging from the last two albums we are in for a treat.

Ed, are you going to any of the gigs? Fancy meeting?

Seb,

At the moment I'm only going to Bradford-on-Avon next Friday, and the Trowbridge Festival in July. I'd provisionally planned to make the trip to The Brook, but it seems I've spent too much on Yes tix (!) so I'm gonna give it a miss.

The gigs page on the Mostly Autumn site does warn of more dates to be announced though...

I was thinking of seeing these guys in Southampton last October, but never really 'made a move'... nonetheless, I'm intrigued to fid out more about these guys even though I've never heard a note by them! (Just about to fix that, though; I'm going to listen to some of those clips!)

I've now had the CD for a day, and have listened to it constantly. Pretty different to what has gone before, and dare I say it, better.

A complete rollercoaster of tempos, styles and emotions closing with the magnificent "Pass The Clock"

Highly recommended; not on general sale until July, but available at gigs apparently.

Massos? Your opinion?

BTW Chris2210

I read you were toying with the idea of going to see them in Rotherham. Take the plunge this Saturday and check em out if you can.

You might think they're shite, but I suspect not. They're not as 'complex' as many prog bands, but they do some enjoyable stuff.

And they're warm and genuinely friendly people. Usually hang around afterwards to chat to fans, sign stuff etc; (I had good long chats with Bryan Josh, the 'main man' after the Bristol & Cheltenham gigs last year).

Received my subscribers copy yesterday. Its; well worthwhile picking up one of the few copies left since the bonus CD Live at Canterbury Fayre is awesome! Only available to subscribers. Check out

The new album is different, and apon first listening implies that it will be a grower. However, the traditional, prog epix at the end is awesome. I haven't heard a more catchier melody that part III of Pass The Clock.

As I recall, I believe it was Ed who pitched this band quite a while back. Well, after some serious delay, I finally got around to giving them a listen and I would like to say...DAMN! I think we have some talent here!! I especially liked "Simple Ways", "Bitterness Burnt" and "Distant Train". Really good stuff!!!! Best new stuff I have heard in quite some time! Thanks, Ed! Thanks, Massos!

Glad you like them N2, but the credit goes to Ed.

Distant Train really has grown on me, it's an awesome intrumental.
Have you been listening to the clips at their website? I imagine so since the album is officially out yet.

The three part 13 minute prog epic is awesome, with part three having one of the best melodies I have heard in a long time. Their sound has changed, and prog purists may prefer the earlier albums. But I know you have a wide range of musical tastes, like me, and the mix of influences works very well. I hear Fleetwood Mac and CSN&Y when listening to the new album:-) Also, the band is trying to break into mainstream so that they can earn a living whilst keeping their progressive roots.

And they're worthy of it; the 'mainstream' stuff on Passengers is right out of the top drawer!

I would advise that anyone wanting to investigate Mostly Autumn would be best off starting with Catch The Spirit, a 'best of' 2CD released last year.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... ce&s=music

Passengers is excellent, but does shift slightly from what they've done before. There are more epics on Catch The Spirit.
