OK SOMEBODY HAS TO SPEAK

Postby perpetualchanger » Wed Aug 27, 2003 1:22 am

To make everyone happy is to be subject to popular opinion and therefore have no spine. Just my .02 which is worth probably .0125387 these days ...

Honestly, I don't care what we do. Let's just get moving!

OK, if anyone's ready to jump on board, I OFFICIALLY VOLUNTEER to steer this ship. I say, LET'S DO IT!

I don't think the MIDI previously suggested is accurate enough - though I appreciate how hard it is to find a good one of To Be Over. Unless someone comes up with a better one, let's make the official one http://RobertNasir.com/yes/tobeover.mid Please let me know ASAP if you have a seriously disagreement with with this.

Now, who's the official mixer we're to send our pieces to? topographicguitarist86: are you still on? If so, speak up! If not, what happened to our original enginner? If he's not up for it, I'll volunteer. I'll check back by Friday Aug 29 (since I can't contact topographicguitarist86, as he didn't include an e-mail address in his profile).

If no one else raises their hand, then I'll handle the engineering.

So who wants to play what?

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES! Please record your parts, using the MIDI as a time generator, but as WAV or MP3 without the MIDI sounds for the Virtual Band To Be Over Mix. Send to Yes@RobertNasir.com. If your files are over 10MB, please send me a seperate message to indicate you've sent them (so I know to get in touch with you in case anything oversized bounces). If topographicguitarist86 or anyone else says, "hey, you can't take over, that's my job," I'll gladly give up the helm - otherwise, I'm proud to be your humble engineer, and will do my best to make (as Jon Anderson says,) all the pieces fit together.

Okay, now I'm into this To Be Over thing too, I'd like to contribute some spacey guitar lines, similar to lap steel...

Oh man! The drums in this MIDI file are so very wrong!!
No I have to write out the original drumparts first and that's one hell of a job. It's gonna take a while folks!!

Hopefully this is still alive! LOL I have a question. Is this just doing Yessongs for fun or is this gonna be like a tribute album?! Just a question I was thinking about asking.

Does anybody know what the lyric line is starting at about 8:03 on To Be Over? It's pretty low in the mix. It sounds like "Someday to the Sun" but I can't be sure if that's what it is or not. There's also a background line that may be "Someday, somehow" but again I can't be sure. Any help would be appreciated. If we're going to this we should do it right I guess.

alan white got the question once and he answered that it's a language that jon made up for the moment. true or not, to me it sounds like they sing 'someday somehow' or 'summerdays summernights'. i assume only yes know.

Any chance we'll get this going before the "Turn Of The Century"?

Terry: looks like interest is low right now. It'll be tough to get going before the holidays, what with everyone's busy schedules.

None the less, I'll try to do some recording myself - but I'm not a master musician, so this'll be just to get the ball rolling.
