Why don't we restart the voting process? Everyone gets 3 votes, then we tally those up and vote for the winner. My Choices:
1. Astral Traveller
2. Changes
3. To Be Over

I would be glad to contribute bass to any of these or whatever we vote on.

Just so there is no confusion, I should have posted "I've Seen All Good People" and not "All Good People". Somehow I don't think just doing "All Good People" would stand by itself very well.

darn! :( lost the rest of the post...here we go...

1. this guy recorded himself playing drums (to a cd piped in on headphones) with a cheap computer mic and sends the result to me.
2. I take it and have the equipment to layer my tracks on-top and overnight, we come up with this...

(links posted above)

...I mean c'mon...relatively NO effort put in on an overnight - just for kicks - thing, and see what we could do...

so I am thinking...
if the drummer ecords himself playing to a cd version ilike that, he sends it to the next guy...and so on and so forth...
IF YOU ALL PLAY ALONG WITH IT, AND RECORD YOURSELVES SEPERATELY AND SEND ME EACH INDIVIDUAL "INSTRUMENT", i CAN MIX IT DOWN PRETTY WELL...

THOUGHTS?

we used a midi file that we each had access to for Starship Trooper. That way you can fade out certain instruments while you are listening. OK the new tally. Should we set a "cut off date" for the voting? Why don't we say Sept 15, that way all will have time to vote.

THE VOTES THUS FAR:
Astral Traveller 1
Changes 1
To Be Over 3 (that's assuming N2 was voting for it)
And You And I 2
All Good People 1
Madrigal 1
perpetual change 2
YING 1
SK 1

That's ok with me, but can't find a midi file of "to be over" if that is the song were going to record.

The file seems to be pretty accurate and there are no pesky "vocal" tracks that are way too loud and mask the rest of the music like some midis. The drums are really quiet, almost non-existent. After listening, I think this will be a tough one for the drummer and the keyboardist. There are a lot of "starts and stops" and you really have to count. I am willing to give it a try. N2, I know you can handle the bass better than me, so maybe I can just add some vocals. I can sing Chris and Steve's parts pretty well, but I could never do justice to Anderson. HAMAR I have complete confidence in you, of course, but I couldn't play drums to this midi!

This is exactly why I stopped even reading this forum for months. We voted on TBO, I posted the exact same midi track to use and it went nowhere. Now it's on again? I'm confused.

If you want me to do it, I'll do it. But let's get on the horse and actually ride it somewhere this time.

What we did with Starship Trooper was everyone recorded his part playing along with the midi-file. I used Cubase recordingsoftware.
In cubase you can record an audio track while playing the midifile.
We uploaded our part to the yestalk-site an Ed made a mix.
I think that when you play along with the cd or audiotrack we get massive timing problems.

Perpetualchanger, you are so right, still we absolutely NEED your voice!!

the only problem i heard with the midi file of TBO that you guys posted was in the "hawaiian" guitar section where Howe is doing the ascendingdescending guitar stuff, the timing is right but the bass/drum part is missing a beat. it goes a aa "hammer on" aa "hammer on" and it should go a aa "hammer on" a aa...aa "hammer on" aa "hammer on", it doesnt really matter beacuse the timiong is still correct on the other parts, but whoever does the drum should be aware if they arent already

When we voted on TBO the first time and everyone started bitching about the choice of song after some of us went ahead and started working on it. It's not fair to the people who have already started working on their parts to take another vote because some people didn't like the song.

Michelle, it would be hard to imagine the project without you. I hope that you aren't offended by me restarting the vote, I just wanted to see if I could get the ball rolling again. TBO is fine with me if everyone else likes it. I just want everyone to be happy...
