I have an idea

I have an idea

Postby topographic_drama1980 » Fri Apr 23, 2004 6:12 am

Why don't someone just start playing something and then we can all join in? If anyone's able to play a Yes song, then there should be no need for a MIDI file or anything like that.

I have some choices:

Wonderous Stories
TO BE OVER (which has been discussed but unfortunately never decided as of yet)
Into The Lens
Lift Me Up
And You And I
Changes
I Am Waiting
Awaken
Close To The Edge
Love Will Find A Way

I have many more choices but choose not to list every damn one of them.

Here's another idea.

For some songs, it doesn't have to be a band, just someone doing a song solo and featuring it here in this section of YT.

Just a couple of ideas.

Everyone did a hell of a great job on Starship Trooper, so why not do a great job on something else?

I was thinking maybe we should do one of the bonus tracks that was never released, such as It's Over or Make It Easy from 90125. Either that or maybe we could do the bonus track version of Onward. It's just Squire playing with the orchestra and we could add instruments and voices to it easily. Of course we may need to obtain a license to do that.

I would absolutely LOVE to do Make It Easy or Onward or even both. I'd be able to sing both of them. I can't really play either of them on guitar, but I can sing. Yeah, I guess licensing would help. I don't even know to do that. How did YT get the licensing to do Starship Trooper?

Before anything gets started, what's your voice range? I can definitely sing the first the first verse and I think I can get up to Jon's register in the second verse and the last chorus. Hopefully others will be interested, since this little section of YT has been neglected for so long.

I think I can hit all the high notes if I'm in good voice (and that never happens in the morning). If not, I tried dropping everything down an octave and I kind of liked the way it sounded that way. It gave the song a very different feel. Try it and see what you think. It might be better to go in that direction anyway. People might not be so tempted to compare our voices to Jon Anderson if we drop it down an octave.

Yeah, I kinda like that. Plus, I won't have to worry about straining my voice if I can't reach that high. Sounds good.

The webpage I was going to store the tracks on is being renovated and won't be available until May 15 (it was supposed to be available May 3 and has been pushed back-hopefully it won't be pushed back again). I have a WAV file of the bonus track version of Onward. If anyone needs it to get started I can send it to you if you have MSN Messenger. Another song I'd like to do is 'Have We Really Got To Go Through This" I'm presently working on lyrics for it.

That sounds good. I don't have MSN Messenger, just AIM and Yahoo messenger. "Go Through This" doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. See, this is what's cool. We can take some of their more obscure or previously unreleased tunes and perform them. I'd love to see if we can get everyone to do an acappella version of "Leave It."

Hi people, this is my very first post on yestalk. I've been around for some time, and getting in the chat from time to time. Today I got to hear the version of Starship Trooper, and I found it very good. And i got interested to make a contribution here.
My name is Claudio, I'm from Santiago, Chile (yes, South America) I'm a sound engineer, and I play keyboards, bass, and some guitar, plus I do drum programming. I have a nice gear and I believe I could be of some help. To Start, I can offer two songs already finished (all instruments played by myself), and they only need vocals, and I was wondering if any of you would like to help me to complete them. The Songs are 'And you and I' and 'Onward'.

After this I'd really like to do more things. some huge projects like Close to the Edge and The Revealing Science of God, plus some other cool songs like Yours is No Disgrace, Hearts, Heart of the Sunrise, Siberian Khatru. I'd only need someone who can play those guitars, plus someone who could sing the songs.
Contact me by replying this post, by messenger, I have AOL (sonoacustico); Yahoo Messenger (sonoacustico); MSN (sonoacustico@hotmail.com)
Hope to hear from you

greetings!

Claudio

Amy, since we're not playing the music for the virtual band, does that make us "virtual groupies"? <img src=pix/icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hey Amy, we seem to be greeting each other once in a year, lol, I hope that changes :-)
Ok, I believe we have some vocalists interested? :-D We'll need a Squire voice and an Anderson voice (I could do the Howe voice, lol). Hey Guys, do you have multitrack capabilities? I mean, I can send the whole song in mp3 or wma format via MSN or Yahoo or AOL, then I'd need to get "ONLY" the vocal takes, not the song with the vocals on it. I can synchronize music with vocals easily here.

Hello again,
I forgot to talk some about the license. I know that you don't need to get a license to record any song and distribute it for free. It would be different if we would want to record and sell an album. It's the same rule for audience recordings or bootlegs. you can share, but not buy or sell.

Greetings!

Hope to hear from you

greetings!

Claudio
