Well, is the next song going to be:

To Be Over
Changes
And You And I
Long Distance Runaround
South Side Of The Sky
Mind Drive (yeah I'm actually thinking we should do this one)
Roundabout or
I've Seen All Good People?

I, for one, voted for Mind Drive and Changes. You all can pick more than one choice of songs to do. Please, we need more people to do this.

OK, we finally have another guy participating in this. Good choices, Renato.

Anyone else?????

The reason I gave this poll until July is because of how little this part of the forum gets exposure and I figured it would be enough time for people to make up their minds, or until we get enough people involved in this again.

Another keyboard player

Postby Klatu » Thu Jan 27, 2005 4:27 pm

Hi. New here. I'm a keyboard player and this sounds like fun to me. I have the keys necessary for this, but no experience with virtual recording.
Anyway, I'd like to contribute.

Yes, me too, Amy. I missed out on doing Starship Trooper, so I figured why not just keep the ball rolling and do some more songs? It looks to me that And You And I seems to be in the lead. I know this poll ends in mid-late July, but there are more votes for AYAI soon, we oughta get some people to do it. I just figured that a democratic sort of vote should be in order for songs that were suggested in past threads and pick out some popular ones and most of what other people wanted to do. Hopefully, this will start again.

Here's a vote for And You And I. Are we allowed to vote for more than 1 song or vote multiple times (I hope not)?

Yes, you can vote for more than just one song at a time. Multiple times? I'm not sure, but you can try. No harm in trying.

Good choice, BTW. I see AYAI's in the lead. :D

You can't? I thought I made the option that you could vote the same song twice. Sorry if I didn't. I hope more people get involved in this. Since it's taking people a long time to get to this, that's why I let this poll go all the way until July. Even if this will the only other song we do, we really need to do one more. It looks like it's gonna be And You And I, but the poll is far from being over.

we do the 1st choice.. and then the 2nd one...
right now: And You and I - and - South Side of the Sky...
[my votes - muahahaha]

Good question. I'm not sure who drove the Siberian Khatru project or how they went about it since I wasn't around here at the time.
Usually I would think that a rhythm track with at least bass and drums should be done first for everyone else to work with, but since this starts with guitar maybe a guitar player could rough out a basic track to build on. (?) Maybe with a click track?
I'm also curious how these files were swapped betwen the participants.
It would also probably be better for someone to accumulate all the parts and then do a final mix rather than each person compiling their part and sending it on. That would get crappy pretty fast.

Steve,

The person that did Khatru and myself are in the prossess of doing a Roundabout clone. (yep, we're not waiting for August for ya'll to make up your mined let alone get started....sorry  )

I will have the Drum scratch track ready within the next week for download (I'll post it)

So far we have the "best person" for the job on "guitar" in my opinion
We may have the same guy who did the bass on Siberian Khatru, Maybe not though....... :(
But, we are currently still in need of someone who can "really" play those B3 keys on Roundabout. Can you help? This project will expodite quickly.

Let me know the particulars when you have an idea.
(what kind of file, should I add to it and send it back or create an independent file for the keyboards, do you want the different keyboards on different tracks or all mixed together, etc. There will be organ, moog and mellotron flutes. Also wondering if it should have the reversed piano chord at the beginning.)
Don't hurry on my account, I can use all the practice I can get!

Steve,

Just start praticeing to the studio version.....

The biggining 49 seconds will be done by caryindy....

The format will be 16bit wave......[easy enough]

Keep your track(s) seperate.....we need all the tracks that way tell the final mixdown......You, in taking part will have access to all the master tracks....

I'm putting together a file server site that we can use to upload/download the tracks............

Have fun....and remember, this project is high quality.

Yeah, i think so. Don't take me as being bad, but the topic has taken a totally different direction, that has very little to do with it... Don't be shy to start a new topic. =)
Things will be better organized and people will follow the subjects more easily.

"?the topic has taken a totally different direction?"

Postby SOUTHSIDEGUY » Mon Mar 07, 2005 11:50 pm

"Totally different", might be a little to "strong" a stance as far as you trying to define the last page of posts. "A bit off topic" might work more nicely and achieve a great, more positive effect. ;)

I disagree that the topic has "really" changed. I'm trying to get the next YES clone song done and stimulate conversation in this thread.....Realistically.

So, insted of trying to "chase people out" of this thread....why not try first to steer this discussion more too "your likeing" first????

It looks like SSOTS or AYAI are going to be next on the chopping block....Soooo, let's talk about that....

I have a good question:do you think we should use some midi file (who's midi file???) to mirror off of? Or, Should we use the original studio track to mirror off of? figuering this out will let us/people get going ASAP.

Starship Trooper, was done off of a midi file....There are clear advantages to that...but there are serious disadvantages to that as well.....and the same goes for the other way....
