Guitarist? Strange username, then! :P

I am in too. I play drums. I have taken yes songs and added tracks using Cubase and Tascam audio interface. I can be contacted at bcesca@westpointsales.com.

To get this going again, we'd need enough musicians to cover all the parts. Then we need to pick a tune.

If we get that far, then we'll coordinate the rest.

Pehaps someone should call this guy I've heard of. His name is Beniot David. I've heard he sings pretty good.

:)

Anyway, while I do play drums and keyboards, my chops are shot because most of what I've done musically these days has been punching in notes on a note by note basis, and I have actually spent more time mixing junk together than anything else. So...... if Ed wouldn't mind, I'd like, at least as a sort of second version thing, a chance to mix down the indiviudal parts myself.

Actually... I think we're good. It would be worth waiting around a bit and seeing if anyone else wants to be involved but we have a band it looks like. I'll watch from the corner and see if there's anything I can contribute. If Ed lets me I'll mix down my own version and add a few special touches. Other than that, I'll be sort of like the "roadie."

I have no idea how this was done before or how involved I'd be allowed to get, so if anyone was involved with the last project, I'd be curious to know what process what put in place. Just thinking out loud, it seems to me that everyone would need to record their various parts and upload them to a server. If anyone was really bandwidth pressed, they could do the mp3 thing, but uploading wavs to an FTP server would be much better. There would be of course some variation in intonation and tempo, but that could probably be corrected easily enough with any one of about ten different pieces of software I have. I'm just rambling. If anyone has any suggestions let's hear them. I don't wanna be overbearing or anything. If I'm out of line, please let me know.

Okay. What if we try a logical approach. If everybody's game, let's do a warm-up, something that's entrenched in our brains. Say, Roundabout.

Then after that, we can open up to doing more unusal stuff. I'd love to see a longer piece like Awaken, something from the Rabin era, something from the Sherwood albums. Hell, maybe we could get Billy to jump in on that one.

Whatdayasay?

I will add Roundabout to my cubase and add the drum track. I believe that Ican send the file over the net and have everyone add their individual tracks then delete(or silence) the original track by Yes. Let me know if you all are still in and I will get it started. My son is the wizard on Cubase so I will make sure we can do it this way.

I know a bass player in France who could tackle this - complete with Brassmaster fuzz effect!

Okay. You wanna jump off a cliff and do Awaken? I say, WTF. Why not? I still haven't gotten Ed's blessing or anyone else's go ahead on mixing this thing.

Awaken presents some difficulties due to the size of the piece and the nature of how it's put together. It would be sparkling if everyone could play along with the original studio version (through headphones) so the timing is at least reasonably close.

Awaken also provides some magically fun possibilities. Through the earlier sections, everyone's cranking away on those rather unusual percussion intstruments. It would allow more people to get involved if you catch my drift.

Just thinking out loud again. :)
