The musical is based on the controversial 1891 German play of the same title by Frank Wedekind. Set in late-nineteenth century Germany, it concerns teenagers who are discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. The original play was banned in Germany due to its portrayal of masturbation, abortion, rape and suicide. In the musical, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.
After a number of workshops, concerts and rewrites over a seven-year period, Spring Awakening premiered Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theatre Company on May 19, 2006 and ran through August 17, 2006. The show then opened on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on December 10, 2006 and received favorable reviews.[1]Spring Awakening received eleven 2007 Tony Award nominations, winning eight, including Tonys for best musical, direction, book, score and featured actor. The show also won four Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical. The production is directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Bill T. Jones.
Decca Broadway released the original cast recording on December 12, 2006, which won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album in 2008.[2] The guitar Sheik used to compose songs for Spring Awakening is on display at the New York Library For The Performing Arts.[3]
Spring Awakening closed on Broadway on January 18, 2009, after 888 performances (859 on Broadway, 29 previews).[4]

Going through my CD collection, mainly the eighties section, to see if I can throw (sell) something away.. Right now it's Gregg Bissonette... Really good musician but seriously, what was he thinking?! :)

Im listening to Mary chapin carpentor "Ten Thousand Miles"
I am very sad about what is going on. I cant believe Al Gore got away with being the man of nature for so long, the scientist that backed him are leaving him, in droves. He has done more to hurt animals, than anyone. I go out of my way to not step on ants, and I dont plan on making a profit.
Oh dont yuo see that lonesome dove, sitting on an Ivry tree. For 30 or 40 years, celeberties have made them selves feel better about helping Africa, you can see how that has worked, go by a Prius, the most poluting ineffeciant car in the world, you'll feel better. Oh atleast your doing somthing, just like all that has been done for Africa, We can wage wars to stop what we feel is the in thing. But we cant save Africa. I am sick of save Tiebet t shirts, Oh come yee back my own true love, and stay awhile with me, if I had a freind. The meek can not help the poor. the selfrightous can not even help themselves, but having a SAVE TIEBET t shirt makes them feel good.

Seems like every time I'm on lately, it's Dream Theater . . .

Today is no exception - listening now to "Once in a LIVEtime" - Trial of Tears . . . possibly my favorite DT song . . .

Right now, it's Genesis - Duke.

I love this album. It's the best one by the "trio" version of Genesis. I see it as somewhat of a concept album. It's a nice balance between prog, pop, and rock. I don't think the band has matched anything like it since.

Duke is an excellent album, and I agree, their best as a trio.

Still cranking through the "D" section on my media player with Dream Theater/Train of Thought. Next up is Super Furry Animals/Dark Days Light Years.

If you're wondering why that comes after the D's on my media player, when I ripped the disc, it showed up as "The Ducky Boys"????? Go figure. I just left it - thought it was funny! :jestera:
