And what IS the meaning of "Classical Gas" ??

There are never bean leftovers in this 'cock ranch, and if the feathered farters ever did pass wind often, this neighborhood would be toxic..

In case you're too young Tribute to know 50's-70's slang, "Gas" means a good time, e.g., "It was a gas"

I just don't "recall" much from those "daize"...I guess....

My neighbor decided to burn some sticks in her pasture yesterday and about burnt down the neighhood..The wind kicked up and she caught the trees on fire above the brush pile, luckily she had a waterhose and got it under control before we had to call the fire department....Her horses ran away too, etc

It's been a LONG week . . .

J.J.'s surgery went very well - he was in surgery for over 6 hours - hard on us waiting for so long - they did call us every hour or so for an update, which was much appreciated.

The pain has been pretty bad - he's had some rough episodes and I've had several sleepless nights this week taking care of him.

Today has been better - they took out the last IV today after he decided the Lortab was doing about as good as the pain pump. He's been walking around since Wednesday. We saw the before and after x-rays today and they're amazing! And he's grown about 3 inches - lol - I feel SO short next to him now!

Thanks Nolan for posting the update. Internet access has been really difficult this week so I'm sorry I haven't been around.

They may let J.J. go home this weekend - we're waiting to hear. :)

Thanks for all the good thoughts - keep them coming for a full recovery!

Too bad we couldn't have assembled Woodhenge at the Yesstock campgrounds for future gatherings . . . we could have summoned that "Arriving UFO" . . . ;)

J.J. came home from the hospital on Saturday, so I'm a 24/7 nurse now until he gets more functional - he needs assistance getting in/out of bed/chairs, pillows tucked for support, ice packs on his right hip that's really hurting him a lot, bandages changed - you name it!

His dad is staying with him during the day so I can go to work . . . then I'll go home and do it all over again . . .

The GOOD news is that he's healing very well, no fever, and is moving under his own power more and more. We have a follow-up appointment with the orthopedist on 8/20. It's just slow progress - he gets a little bit better each day . . . keep us in good thoughts that he keeps healing as he should, and doesn't require so much attention during the night so I can get some sleep too . . . lol

Two steps forward . . . one step back . . .

J.J. had a great day yesterday - he's getting in and out of bed on his own now, wasn't hurting when I got home from work, laughing at the TV . . .

Then just as I was about to crash on the couch, he had a major pain episode . . . then another in the middle of the night . . . and again about 6:30 am . . . sigh . . .

Hope these stop . . . I've asked his dad to stay tonight so I can get a full night's sleep - haven't had one since Thursday . . .

LOL - they ARE cat naps at this point - Sophia curls up right next to me every time I lie down on the couch, and sometimes Magus joins in too . . . they've been good therapy for J.J. as well - J.J. really missed them when in the hospital, and asked me to bring a pic of them, which we put on the hospital room wall . . .

Staying a little late at work today - trying to make up time that I missed last week being at the hospital, as I have very little leave time accrued.

J.J. called this afternoon looking for a movie - seemed to be feeling better - I'm sure he'll make gains every day - what's happening now is a FAR cry from LAST Tuesday!

I did get to sleep last night - J.J.'s dad came back over around 10 pm and stayed the night with him . . . MUCH needed and I feel better today.

J.J. apparently had a decent night too - he woke up once around 3 am in pain, but was able to move around some and walk it off, then he played some video games until about 6 am, so he had a distraction. He was quiet when I left for work this morning. His uncle Peter was coming over to spend the day with him - hope they have fun . . . :)

J.J.'s doing MUCH better - he's sleeping most of the night, and so am I . . . lol

He's able to get up and down by himself, and sit up for longer periods. Things are going well. He has a follow up with the surgeon on 8/20, so we'll know more then as to the success and what he'll be able to do over the next few months . . . :)

Wish Metal Elvis would play HERE again soon . . . that was a fun show!

I'm time-tripping this week back to Woodstock - just finished reading two books about the event, and it's all over the news this week - VH1 Classic is running stuff about it - it was definitely a point in time to be remembered . . .

Been working overtime to make up the time I took off during J.J.'s surgery, but I'm thinking I'll go home on time tonight . . . overall J.J.'s doing better, but this past weekend was a little bumpy - that "two steps forward - one step back" thing again . . . he's getting bored with staying home, but two short forays outside over the weekend were painful . . . he'll try it again in a few days, I'm sure.

I've been watching specials on the 1969 Manson/Sharon Tate/Helter Skelter murders as well as the 1969 Moon Landing..
Woodstock 40th Anny is only a few days away too....
I hope to read all those Woodstock related books soon!

With your screen name, you're just the person to do it . . . ;)

Some GOOD news . . . I've started receiving all the insurance statements for J.J.'s surgery, and since he's already hit the "out-of-pocket maximum" for this year, the surgery is FREE!!! I won't have to pay a dime!

A good thing too, since the total of what I've received so far is pushing $200,000.00! My 10% out-of-pocket would be $20,000.00!

Sharon Tate once picked up her mom from a bridge game in our neighborhood that my mom was attending, just down the street. Mom recalled meeting her.

I remember being babysat at some "groovy" teen party up the street one night while my parents were out, back then. I think I was being passed around as a party "mascot" with the joints and booze; I remember groovy colors and chicks.

Greenglade - sounds like that party shaped your personality . . . ;)

At work trying to stay awake - I've had a couple of late nights working on my computer at home, but I think I've FINALLY got the internet running reliably there, and have reinstalled most of the software I usually use.

J.J. started college today. He just called after his first class to say they had gotten out early, being the first day and all, and that his class tonight might get out early too. So, I just told him to call me when it was over, and I'd come pick him up. Unfortunately, he doesn't have his own wheels yet . . . I'm sure that will come at some point . . .

He's recuperated very well from the surgery, is off the pain meds, and isn't hurting like he used to when physically active! His follow-up with the surgeon is tomorrow, so we'll know more about what he's allowed to do at this point.

We met with J.J.'s doctors on Friday.

Basically, he can do what he feels like doing, except he's still not supposed to lean forward much, or do any heavy lifting. It will be a year before he's "back to normal", but he's made great progress.

They seemed amazed that he was going to classes. And he has amazed ME with his activity level - without his back hurting, he's been doing lots of walking. Before the surgery, he'd have to stop and rest after a short walk - now he's doing LONG walks - yesterday he walked for 2 hours to a local mall before class!

We bought him a new bed - a super single waterbed because he's TALLER now since the surgery, and is hanging off a normal-sized one! It arrived yesterday - hoping to put it together tonight or tomorrow. I've got to buy the plywood for the bottom of the bed - that didn't come with it, but otherwise we're good to go.

We moved our offices here at work about a week ago, and I'm settled back in finally. My new digs are smaller, but actually they have a good feel, and I'm enjoying them.

The Greenglade AND Tardis postings of partying, getting tall, etc reminded me of this:
and I recently enjoyed watching Grace Slick sing this in '69..at Woodstock...

Watched part of "Festival Express-1970" today as well..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festival_Express

WHITE RABBIT -- Jefferson Airplane
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall

And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small

When men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:

Feed your head
Feed your head"

I was always convinced that Lewis Carroll was smoking something when he wrote about Alice . . . ;)

New waterbed is assembled - took several hours to put the thing together, then had to fill it, but it was finished before midnight last night, so J.J. got to sleep in NEW bed last night!

I took a test run too - it's really comfortable . . .

J.J. loves it! Says it's the best bed he ever had!

And speaking of Woodstock - the movie "Taking Woodstock" is out this Friday . . . I'm hoping to go see it . . .

Im not to much on bands that took acid, and wrote music, and the wasted people who thought and made them great. I cant beleive poeple who love YES, would find some of these bands so talanted. Im sure If I took that many drugs and wrote music, and my audience was so wacked out, I would be famous. Yes did their share of stuff, but it was not the only reason they where famous. people who still have a mind, from not doing acid knew that YE was different. When you suck, and you sing to those who are more lost then you, you win.

I love bands that play simple music, that just makes you feel good. But some of the worthless crap I have heard over the years, from those who are so screwed up blows my mind. Now there must be some one who thinks that bands, that are even chastized by their own band members for writting music on acid, and admired by those who took drugs, must have something to ay to my comment. Except when you are so bad, you cant deal with this life, you have to take acid and abuse women, to make your mark, like Ted Kennedy, then your OK.

Atonement is a good thing....I think Ted Kennedy did his share of trying to pay back society for all his mistakes/abuses over the years..or maybe he just felt like he needed to make some good karma for others after seeing what happened to his brothers...He always had to keep one eye on the door of any room he was in just to see who/what was coming after him all those years...
At least he didn't just say he was "born again" and just pushed the reset button....like "W" did...as if it never happened...

I'm a oddity that I enjoyed the psychodelic music movement but have never taken any illegal or mind altering drugs..I just never bought into the drug use liefstyle/enlightenment thing....I just like the way most music makes me feel..I get off on the sonic thing...It is SAD that so many talented folks wasted their gifts and gave their lives to pursue that lifestyle...

I too have never found it necessary to take drugs to enjoy music, and it's sad that so many have lost their lives and deprived the world of their talents because they pursued the drugs with intensity.

That said, I think those folks managed to make some great music DESPITE the drugs - I love most of the music coming out of that era . . . just sorry that some folks did the drugs to excess . . . :(

Some great music though - that lives on . . . :)

Things have settled a bit in my world . . . J.J.'s struggling a little managing the back pain - it comes and goes - while he's going to school and dealing with that workload. Hopefully things will continue to improve for him.

Our move here at work is complete, and my new office is settled in.

Looking forward to a relaxed Labor Day weekend . . . ;)
