Album Side on Radio

Postby Yessong » Wed Sep 04, 2002 1:26 am

As most radio stations do on big holiday weekends, Q104 in NYC had a thematic weekend this past holiday - Album Sides - Guess what - they actually put the boys in - side two of Fragile - non stop in it's entirety. Neat... just thought you folks might like to know.

XM radio, anyone? To be specific, Channel 51? As much Yes, Genesis, Crimso (et al) that you can handle. I highly recommend it, although, at the same time, I daily bemoan the fate of our non-satellite USA radio stations (Long Live WNEW-FM! Long Live WPLJ!).

I am not paying for radio - stallite or otherwise. If i'm going to pay for my music I'd rather just buy the cd and keep it in my car - at least I'll always have it. The folks in the satallite radio industry like to compare their birth to that of cable but I really do not see the comparison.

I don't see the comparison, either, but XM's only ten bucks a month, and it's fun. However, I can appreciate the fact that you wouldn't want to pay for radio; I'm sure most people feel this way. Yet, in XM's defense, I must say that (in my own humble opinion) the price of the service is money well spent; it's great to record, and you can make some amazing compilations with it in that way. Personally, I'm having such a blast with it that I can even excuse the same people who gave us satellite radio for screwing up radio in the first place (Yes, Lee Abrams, I mean you)!

Call me foolish, but sometimes I enjoy hearing "Sound Out The Galleon" coming out of my radio, rather than (always) via my stereo. Lastly, since I can't get Internet radio to work at all because I'm a bit of a Luddite, XM's quite suitable for me.<img src=pix/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

If I was in my car all the time or listened to the radio at home, hell yes I would pay for XM. Plenty of programming for a relatively cheap price.
