From the great composer Britney Spears...

song. Pop music is the hardest shit to write."

Yes Brittany, and the answer to life, the universe and everything really is 42.

You silly girl. (Add scornful Sneer)

LOL bundy. I haven't heard that in a long time.

42.......

~~~~~~~~
Of course pop music is hard to write. It can't be easy to write a whole album of different songs that sound exactly alike without being exactly alike, but almost, the way a granny smith resembles a macintosh....
Is this a real quote? Honestly, does the girl even write songs? I thought she employed professional songwriters.
She employs her youth and breasts. That's all there is to that girl. Real musicians employ their brains. Be it Yes, Chicago, Air Supply, Harry Chapin, Asia or even Dexy's Midnight Runners. The reality is they thought about what they did. She removes her clothes to a minimum and sings stupid songs. That's what makes her what she is. There is no employment beyond that stupidity. Yes or no? I think Yes. Yes.... YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah yes, Avril...the 'hardcore punk' that writes 'deep and emotional' songs, who 'grew up on the mean streets' of an upper middle class canadian community and employs the same songwriters that Britney does...I have more respect for Britney, which is saying a lot.
although i dont agree with the 1st half of her statement, it is hard to write pop music as well, to be able to start and finish a musical statement in a very consise timeframe, and have it be (somewhat) fresh sounding and catchy. Its no Dark Side of the Walrus, but nevertheless, still challenging, im sure.
THANK YOU N2!
That says it all. I don't care one BIT about what Britney Spears says, not even enough to criticize it. Let her live in that world of 'pop' that has nothing to do with music.
What she says has a lot of truth to it, of course, but she has no place to say it - what has SHE written that gets played on the radio?
Not one damn thing. I would love to see her try to write something like "Close To The Edge" or "Gates Of Delirium" or "Endless Dream" or "2112" or, hell, even "Karn Evil 9." She wouldn't stand a chance! What the hell does she know? She's a trashy, slutty pop star who thinks she's a "rock star." Did you guys and gals know that a lot of these pop stars, including Bitchney Spears are classified also as "rock stars?" Please!!!!! She wouldn't know good, "artistic" music if it came up and bit off her fake breasts. Death to POP!!!!!!!!! If only the record industry can get rid of this garbage and help return bands like Yes, Journey, Chicago, Jethro Tull, Asia and a hell of a lot more of these talented bands back to the top of the charts where they deservingly belong. I would mention Rush, but they seem to be in the top ten whenever they put a new studio album out, which is a damn good thing.
Yes Britanny, you do have a point. Pop music is hard to write. Good popmusic that is. the pop that Lennon amd MCartney wrote will still be listened to and admired a century from now. Ditto most of the the stuff that the ABBA guys wrote. Only trouble is your stuff is, as you described it "shit". Like the crap that record company executives inflicted on us a few years ago by the Spice Girls, it will be consigned to history's dung heap within the next 2 or 3 years.
I almost fell off the chair laughing at this. She really is a stupid pig!!! Bundy hit it right on the mark. Pop can be a valid musical form as witnessed by the Beatles. Hell, even the songs by Pete Ham and Badfinger are gems.
You have to take it from the source it comes from. Britney`s idea of music is akin to cavorting around like a stripper in one of those topless joints on Times square before Guiliani began his cleanup. When i was a kid, the only girls who dressed like that were prostitutes.
According to The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the answer to The Eternal Question of Life, The Universe and Everything was calculated by the great super computer Deep Thought, to be.....42!!
You must read the books Vulcan, they are very, very funny The TV series was also brilliant. It's available on video. BTW, the author was the late, great Douglas Adams. They are readily available.
Okay folks, we've had a pretty good ride at Brittany's expense, but let's not forget that it was the public who put her there. It's a sad commentary on western culture and its apparent lack of ethics in some regards.
Anyhoo, I think Ms. Spears has already received more attention than what is due her, so with that in mind ( not to mention the fact that this is a YES forum ), I recommend that this topic be locked in 24 hours. Please feel free to inject any additional and appropriate remarks during that time.
Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do have one more thing to say.
Let's see where Brittany's at in 30 years from now. My guess is that her boobs (and her music along with them) will fail long before that. A strong and uninhibited point. More sad truth about Western culture.
