Diane and I both can attest to the fact of just how great the Tree is, KTS!! I've personally been a fan now since i first heard their excellent "In Absentia" album ... and haven't been the same or looked back since!

Porcupine Tree rawks!!!!!!! Glad you finally discovered them, KTS!

np: (from the comforts of home - for a change!!) ......

Michael Hedges - "Beyond Boundaries ... Guitar Solos"

What can I say? This guy's technique of ATTACKING the guitar was downright amazing and unmatched!! You know you gotta be good when one of your fans is the one and only David Crosby!

God, I miss this guy!!! :(

Rest in Peace, Hedge ................

RL ... I've always felt that you and I both were "kindred Spirits" when it comes to lots of things! So glad to know that you enjoy and respect Hedge's playing as well. Such a waste for someone of his caliber and talent to be taken from us all so soon ...

This glass is for you, Mike! << cheers >>

np: Eva Cassidy - "Wonderful World"

Yet another mega-talent sadly taken much too soon! Eva's voice possessed a certain emotion and downright "umph!" that could stop you dead in your tracks and ask, "What the furk is that??!" She simply had an amazing voice!!!

"Wonderful World" is somewhat of a best-of which features tracks taken from her various posthumous albums ... "Eva By Heart" ... "Songbird" ... "Live At Blues Alley" ... "Time After Time" ... "Imagine" ... and "American Tune."

Rest In Peace, Eva!

Just heard..........

Postby Gary » Wed Dec 01, 2004 5:41 pm

This awful song on a local station, 107.1 The Peak, here in Westchester County, NY. The call themselves a New World Rock station.

The song tells of a guy who is in his apartment and hears the couple next door fighting. Seems that he man caught the woman cheating and this guy is saying that it's all his fault because he's such a great persuader. So we know know that she cheated with the neighbor. It's not her fault that she cheated, it the guys fault who she cheated with because he talked her into it???

Oh, what a beautiful voice indeed! So rich and filled with emotion. Such a sad loss for us all. She would have become a mega-star had she lived long enough. She was also a beautiful person inside - humble. Seeing her on stage, so demure. Then, you hear that voice. Wow! Eva was indeed an angel.

np: Paul McCartney - "Macca's Secret Vault"

A cool ( ) collection of rare tracks and outtakes from Sir Paul's illustrious career. It's strange to me how Macca's throwaway-tracks are sometimes just as good as what he decides to release to the public. I guess that's true talent, eh?

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

np: Michael Nesmith - "A Garden"

Hard to believe this former-Monkee putting out an all-instrumental / acoustic new age album, but this thing is damned good!! Needless to say - I am impressed! I think this is actually music he composed to accompany a children's book that came out quite a while back. (I didn't really receive that much info on it when I got the disc from a friend of mine.) It's beautiful acoustic music though, that's all I know!

Highly recommended ...

(Thanks, Kemlyn!) :D

Danny - I just might have to play In Absentia next! ;)

And I'm not surprised at all to hear that Mike Nesmith has released a good album - despite being a Monkee and all the baggage that brought him, he IS a talented songwriter and performer.

Besides, I always liked the Monkees! :D

Linda - the Petrucci/Rudess album is wonderful - I have that one too!

Currently it's Super Furry Animals - Rings Around the World - I can't get enough of this band, and I'm finally finding some of their stuff on the racks!
