SE Fan Gathering in Nashville October 28-30!!

Itinerary

Postby tardistraveler » Mon Sep 19, 2005 8:03 pm

Here's the basic plan for the weekend - I'll post additional details as I have them . . .

Friday evening 10/28 - Meet and Greet in the Suite!

Check-in to rooms as people arrive

Our "Party Central" suite will be open starting at 5:00 pm, until everyone crashes for the night! The suite location will be posted in the lobby, and the desk clerk will have it also. We'll have bar setups, munchies, goody bags, and weed trading - also some Yes music and videos, and a few surprises . . . ;) Fun is GUARANTEED! :D

Dinner is "on your own". There are a number of restaurants in the immediate area. Feel free to bring your food back to the suite and enjoy the company!

Saturday 10/29 - Nashville Sightseeing, Dinner, Jam Session

Breakfast in the lobby as people wake up, then join us in the suite!

10:00- Nashville sightseeing and lunch - We will leave the Hampton Inn around 10:00 and visit Nashville's "roundabout", the Music Row area, and the Parthenon in Centennial Park. Lunch will be at Cafe Coco near Elliston Place. After lunch, those who want to do more kid-oriented activities will do so - more details about the kid activities will be in a subsequent post. Those remaining can browse the shops on Elliston Place, then we'll head downtown to sample Nashville's music/art/history with a tour of the "District", after which we'll set a rendevous point, and people can visit sites of interest. We'll return to the Hampton Inn around 4:00, or whenever everyone gets tired!

5:15 - 7:30 - Dinner at Ellendale's. This is an elegant restaurant in an old house just down the street from the Hampton Inn. The menu will appeal to everyone, I think, and they have an excellent wine list to boot! We'll have a private dining room for our party. Check out their web site at

http://www.ellendales.com

8:00 - 2:00 am??? - Jam session in the "Close to the" Edgewood Room at the Music City Sheraton. A shuttle will return us to the Hampton Inn anytime before midnight, otherwise people can feel free to bring their cars, or take a cab. The Sheraton is only a 2-3 minute drive from the Hampton Inn.

Sunday 10/30 - Checkout and Brunch

Breakfast in lobby/meet in suite as people awake

Hotel checkout

11:15-1:30 - Champagne brunch at the 101st Airborne Restaurant. This is an atmospheric place full of 40's romance . . . an excellent spread for brunch with made-to-order omelets, numerous breakfast/lunch entrees and veggies, salad/fruit/bread/cheeses, and a dessert bar to die for! Once again, we'll have a private dining room for our party.

Afterwards . . . goodbyes and departures . . . :)

I have been trying to reach Stella or Connie all day, no luck and no one can seem to pull up that particular group rate. Anyone know if the block of rooms has been sold out? I'll try again tomorrow.

I don't think the block has been sold out - not to my knowledge.

Let me know if you have trouble tomorrow, Linda, and I'll check into it.

Fantastic!

Can you PM me and let me know your flight times? Someone else is coming in Thursday night as well, so we can spend the evening getting things ready - and partying too . . . ;)

Y'all Come

Postby tribute1969 » Thu Sep 22, 2005 6:04 pm

Sounds like a great weekend, think I'll come.....

Anyway, the "Jam" on Saturday evening will require a room fee in order to secure a place that we can safely play, laugh, etc until all hours and not be shut down so......
IF anyone attending from YesTalk or even someone not attending this time but still just wants to "contribute" to the cause should email Diane/tardis with their "pledge" so she doesn't end up footing too much of this expense herself....
and those of us that know her know that she will do so unless we stop her.......

Stop Diane!!!

Most of the actual attendees are chipping in and there is no "registration fee" of sorts to cover all the expenses of creating such an event but Diane will need to be stopped......I just know.....

Thanks, Nolan . . . ;)

Regarding the room cost - I was informed yesterday that it will be $330 once taxes and fees are added. I currently have $65 that's been sent, and offers for about $60 more, so your donations will be MUCH appreciated to defray this cost.

Thanks for everyone's help! :)

AIRPORT PICKUPS

If you're flying in, airport pickup is VERY easy.

Once you disembark and pass the security gate, you will see signs pointing down one floor to baggage claim. Even if you have no baggage, go down to baggage claim, pick up your bags (if any), and go through the glass doors outside. This is an area where cars can wait 10 minutes or so to pick someone up. If I'm picking you up, this is where I'll meet you. If the hotel shuttle is picking you up, this is where IT will meet you.

If you're flying, please PM me with your flight times (if you haven't already), and I'll let you know whether I can pick you up, or whether you'll have to get the hotel shuttle.

To request the shuttle, call the Hampton Inn at 885-4242 when you disembark, and they will send the shuttle for you.

NASHVILLE WEATHER

The current forecast for the weekend is highs in the low 60's - lows in the low 40's. No rain anticipated yet.

To keep a watch on things, and plan your wardrobe accordingly, check

http://www.weather.com

and key 37206 zip code to get Nashville weather - you can check the 10-Day forecast from there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Nashville!!! :)

Please Note Correction to Hotel Shuttle Airport Pickup

Postby tardistraveler » Tue Oct 25, 2005 4:19 am

I can't edit the previous post, but I've been told that only cars pick up outside baggage claim. The hotel shuttles pick up one level down from baggage claim. There should be signs directing you to shuttle pickup, and you can cross the drive to a glassed-in room where there are phones to call the various hotels.

My apologies for the error.

Nolan, if you have anything to add about shuttle pickup, please do . . . ;)

And some pics . . . I would have loved to come down, but the end of October is always bad for me--I was there in spirit though!

So, everyone behaved themselves? I guess that happens when I'm not there! ;)

Great weekend!

Diane and Nolan just did an amazing job, you guys rock! Got there Thursday night, had dinner with Diane and Dee, and then we stuffed the "Hot Steamy Sacks" with assorted goodies, including a Jon boot and a really cool program. Friday was out and about buying liquor and what not, and then "high tea" at Nolan's and a tour of the infamous Crimson Room, aka the den of iniquity. Friday night was meet and greet in the suite. It was a blast! Jodi, it was so great to meet you in the flesh, felt like I've known you forever. The Jaegerbombs were something else! Saturday Diane graciously escorted the mob on a fabulous tour of Nashville, including Roundabout Plaza and Music Row. Then we had a group dinner at a wonderful restaurant in really cool old house with really great food. Saturday night was the jam in the Close to the Edgewood suite at the Sheraton, there were some issues with the noise from the band relative to other activities in nearby suites, namely, some Black Egyptian gathering. But the issues were resolved and the band played on. Great band, played everything from Yes to the Monkeys and did it extremely well. A good time was had by all. Then Sunday was a fantastic brunch which lasted half the day for those of us sticking around. Many fond farewells. Late Saturday afternoon, I found a very large ghoul hanging on my hotel door, courtesy of Nolan, it was a hoot! Spent some time with Nolan and Diane on Sunday night, and left Monday morning. It was really a blast, and I would love to do this again sometime!

Thanks Linda.....who WAS the "Iron Woman" of the gathering, arrived FIRST, departed LAST and attended EVERY scheduled activity and then some....
and still found time to try to convert a non-Porcupine Tree fan.....the girls works out and has a "Halo" around her......

Yes, Diane, Jodi and you and I were like the "Four Musketeers" or maybe the "Four Stooges" if you count "Joe" as one of the stooges too.....

PROF, the best way to "see" what happened is to go visit YesFans and look up SE Chapter/YesFans Gathering....there are literally hundreds of pictures there for everyone's viewing pleasure.....Enjoy, I know we did....
and btw , we stayed at the HIGH Hotel....
H-ampton I-nn G-reat H-otel......
