Sostice Blessings

Postby Ash » Wed Jun 21, 2006 9:29 am

Hi all,

I just wanted to take this chance to wish everyone a peaceful Sostice:

In the days of summers so long
We danced as evenings sang their song

The days are blessings..........
Nous sommes du soleil

Ash
War Music, Peace Music, Love Music,
We move to it all..........

Thank you, Ash, and the lyrics you quoted are quite fitting. Same to you and all else who are reading. :)
In my internet wanderings, I looked up the etymology of "solstice" and learned that it means, roughly, "the sun stands still". Immediately I thought of the line in "Awaken" - you know the one. :)

Don't be snobby. Just add an "l" and enjoy it.

For the ones who believe:

(and I might be taking this thread to the 'other skylines' forum)
We're at the middle of the infinity-8 and this solstice is an important time.

Or... just never mind me =)

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as snobby. I was aiming more for "ignorant dumbass." I'll aim lower next time.

Michael, your name-calling was completely inappropriate, not to mention unkind. I'm expecting a retraction and/or an apology to Ash from you.

Michael, the solstice is an astronomic event, that divides the seasons. During summer/winter, the sun moves from south to north, and vice-versa. (of course, watching it from the Earth :P). The solstice is when we end 'getting out of autumn' and start 'going in spring' (and vice-versa). So it's a period that the Sun 'stands still' on the sky.

Here, take a look:

I am aware of what a solstice is. I was playing up the fact that I didn't recognize the word out of ignorance. I didn't mean to offend, just to poke fun at myself--meaning that I and no one else was the ignorant dumbass. I apologize if it was misinterpreted, and I have nothing against anyone here on this board and have no reason to engage in name-calling.

Understood, Michael. Thank you for explaining. I apologize for making an assumption in haste.

I spent the solstice driving alone nearly 600 miles to be at my mother's side when she passed away the next day.
It truly was the longest day of the year.

My condolences. I dread what it's going to be like when I have to face that.
