Course you're remembered Tater. If we can just find a couple of others we may be able to get a conversation going again in this place. It's awfa' quiet since it reappeared will o' the wisp-like.

According to the board index new members join every now and then. As for today Yestalk has 2642 members.
Speak up! Show yourselves!

Sorry. I may be a little spotty because life is very busy these days. Thought I'd check in and low and behold the board lives. LOL.

Years ago all of my screaming about "Bring Back Billy!" Well... I never intended it this way. Glad to see he's filling Chris's shoes though since I frankly don't believe anyone else on the planet would be able to get close to it. And with Chris and him being such friends I think, under the circumstances, it's a best case scenario. I miss Chris, R.I.P., but I think Billy is doing a fine job and the only one for the job with Chris's passing.

Now, if I may ruffle a few feathers, all that needs to happen is Geoff Downes needs to go sit in his quiet little Asia corner and do his Asia thing and stop trying to be Yes again. I like Geoff and his work with Asia but the last album proved to me that he has little to offer Yes in its current form, especially with Chris gone. Besides, the best I understand it, Oliver was doing a fine job until they insisted on having Trevor Horn produce who insisted on having his Buggles buddy join the band. Sort of a whacky way to handle band membership. "Sorry, Mr. Wakeman, but our old friend producer is coming back to produce one album and he won't do it unless his friend can be in the band." Has the ring of a high school garage band.

So.... I can handle Davison if Anderson refuses or isn't allowed to return (if someone can clarify which it is, I'd appreciate it). I really did like Benoit David, but I'm presuming his voice must be in rough shape since he's also no longer in Mystery, which by the way, I like a great deal. I, in fact, find Beneath the Veil of Winter's Face to be a far superior album than Yesasia's Heaven & Earth. The only thing I can hope is that if Downes stays on, that Sherwood can inject something interesting into the mix to make it Yes again. Davison is generally fine on the old Yes songs so I'm presuming if there were new music that sounded like Yes, he would probably sound fine. Still desperately miss Anderson though.

And that's my rant. Anyone care to take a few stabs at me? :icon_ded

Good. it's decided then. Since there are no objections I believe it's time for us to begin planning the coup. Next Yes concert, we'll invite Oliver for pizza. He will of course come because who could turn down an invite for pizza from the Yestalk board. Then, some 30 minutes before the concert begins, Chris1960 and myself will present our backstage passes which I will forge in Photoshop. We will say hello to everyone in the band and then tell Geoff that Trevor Horn is outside and needs to speak to him immediately and we would be glad to escort him. Once outside, we will hogtie and gag Geoff, clothe him in an I :face80: Asia shirt and put him in the back of a armored vehicle to be transported directly to John Wetton's house. While all of this is going on, guilddigger will be conveniently present at a nearby pizza shop to advise Oliver of the emergency of the missing Geoff Downes and bring him directly to the band, at which they'll have no choice but to let him play, since Geoff will be missing. Once the concert is over, the band will realize the great wisdom that has been bestowed upon them by the members of Yestalk and immediately request Oliver to again be a permanent member of the band. I will compose a "break-up" note to send to Geoff and all will be good in Yesworld. We'll... almost good. I steal need to devise a plan to get Anderson back.

That's simple - we just tell the rest of them the angels are weeping that Anderson isn't in the band - but unlike when he told them that we'll keep quiet about the seraphim also demanding he has full creative control and 50% of the royalties. That should do it.

As for the the rest of your plan I'm more for Moraz coming back - but someone needs to research a good recipe for fondue...

ANYONE but Downes. Sorry. Just how I feel. I'd actually love to have Igor back. If we can keep him from punching the fans...

Sounds like a plan to me. I'm in.

From the clips I've seen on Youtube, Downes' playing sound sloppy.
Oliver back or Igor even would bebetter.

I think Downes is a personal friend of Howe and it seems like a fairly stable ship and at this stage... personally I was mightily impressed with Brislin's performance [particularly on Gates] during the Symphonic tour.

But seriously whilst I think Geoff is far from the most technically proficient ever in the berth [sorry Geoff], I know he has read some forums and it isn't nice to fantasise about someone losing a job they like. I actually like what he did with the intro to subway walls - it's far from my favourite ever Yestrack, but it is one of the better pieces on the last album.

You are correct in that and I apologize if my ranting seems out of line.

Having said that, I conscientiously object to the way the job was obtained in the first place along with the unceremonious ejection of Oliver at essentially the behest of Trevor Horn. I will say no more on the matter.

To be brutally honest I didn't rate Oliver all that much, but he does seem like a terrifically nice guy and his exit wasn't nice at all. He and Steve had also been collaborators in the past - I don't think it was a personal thing. Horn did seem to have a huge say in the running of the band and the album at that time...
