Radio City Meeting Info

Postby Ed Schaum » Mon Sep 03, 2001 6:24 am

I know there's already a topic about this, but I figured I'd get a new one going and try to organize it a bit.

I understand that there's a brewpub called Heartland right across the street from Radio City. Not sure if they serve dinner or just alcohol. I'll try to find out and post more info.

How about a tentative plan to meet at Heartland at about 5-5:30. That way we could have some food, maybe a couple of beers, and then still get on line before it gets too long.

So who's in?

So far the list is me, Steve Sullivan, and possibly some people from both amy and nfte

I would enjoy having a beer or three with you before the show. gatesofdeliriumcrasher and I are going to be hooking up a little earlier, but there's always time to meet more Yes friends!

5:00-5:30 sounds good. Probably going to eat a late lunch/brunch before that though, maybe have a little snack (typical pub fare would be fine-onion rings, popcorn shrimp, etc..) before the show.

Ok, I'll post this again, I'm getting a lot of email asking what's going on for Saturday.

Current plan is to meet at or inside Hearland at 5. Not sure if they serve food, I would imagine that anyone showing up early needs to eat dinner.

I think some people are meeting even EARLIER than 5, so if you want more people to join the earlier meeting, post where you'll be so we can find one another.

I'll try to wear my yestalk t-shirt on Saturday so I can act as a signpost, but it didn't come out as good as I hoped, so I'm not positive.

My understanding is that Heartland is right across the street from Radio City, but I don't have any more info. If someone has time to look up the exact info, that might help others so we can all find each other.

It seems like we might actually have a pretty good crowd for Saturday if we can get this organized.

I just looked it up on the web at www.heartlandbrewery.com -click on "Heartland Radio City" and it gives you a menu as well as a map of where they are located. Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday. If anyone wants to meet earlier, I'll be meeting relayer4u outside RCMH around 2:30-3:00 for brunch. I'll be wearing a (homemade) Magnification T-shirt.

I don't believe I'll be attending, although I'd love to see what a New Yawk Yes fan does before the show! But I wanted to mention a few things :

1) In Chicago, I thought people could instantly spot me from my icon pic, but Lotus didn't recognize me for awhile. Apparently, I am far thinner and better looking in real life, somehow . . . So you guys might stand a chance of missing each other. Hey, I could see it happening . . .

2) Could someone bring a camera along? This would be a great time for some snapshots, and exchange information about posting them. The number of members here has risen "drama"tically, but the percentage with pics is way down. If I'm willing to show my mug, I'm sure y'all won't mind showing yours with big, beaming, pre-show smiles!

3) In the midwest, we bring brownies to shows--I assume you East Coast types have made provisions?

Yes--It's not just for breakfast anymore . . .

Have a great time, guys! Down a couple for me while your at it.

Proffet, I'm working on that pic. Been trying to set up my scanner, but realized I threw away some important hardware DOH! Soon, we shall see what Altair looks like...shining bright, amidst a starry background. Hell, I'm excited about this...I get to fire up Photoshop.

Perhaps everyone should get a sticky label for identification with their Yestalk name proudly displayed!

Excuse me, sir. In New York, we don't do ANYTHING half way. I'm still trying to decide which is more appropriate to bring...the 6 foot, 12 tube hookah with the one pound capacity bowl, or the 3 horsepower electric pipe with deep sea diver helmet.

Actually, there's nothing like a stealth concert pipe and a jet torch lighter with invisible flame.

No smoke, no flame, no motorcars, not a single luxury, like Robinson Crusoe, it's primitive as can be.

Oops, wrong song.

In less than 5 hours, I will be on the red-eye flight from Nevada to New York. My thoughts will be with all Yes fans who were bypassed or couldn't make it this time around, due to circumstance. I will toast you all with honor before the show begins. My intention is to give Yes a great send off for their European trip. I trust that our Yes brothers and sisters across the pond will continue to energize the band, so that a 2nd USA leg will still be appealing to the group come the end of the year. It will then be time for All of the Yes faithful in the US that missed out to harvest the bounty of !

Keep the faith and know that your presence will be missed!

I was in the Heartland from 5PM to about 7:20. I walked around and asked a few people if they were from YES Talk and got the cold shoulder a few times. If you were in the Heartland and faced the front doors I was to the left of the door in the corner of the bar with about 8 people. We were loud and laughing and drinking and generally having a pre show blast. I really wanted to meet all of you I'm, sorry it did not happen. I wish I had a sign tohold up that said QMAN ! Being a NYer who now lives in KC I was devastated by what happened yesterday. I have family and friends in and around the WTC Twin Towers, and so far all but two have been accounted for. I almost did not want to post today, it seems so unimportant after yesterday. Sat evening I'm in NYC listening to Jon say "Love is everything", and Tuesday I'm home with my wife and son watching our home town be blown up, we cried together in disbelief. God help us all for I fear whats to come may be as dark as Ed's new site boarder.
