Brighton Concert

Postby massos » Mon Oct 22, 2001 4:26 pm

Anyone going to the Brighton concert? I believe that most Yestalkers who were going to the cancelled Bournmouth gig are now going to Nottingham :-( Would be nice to meet up with someone.

Cool. I know Brighton not at all! The friend I'm going with probably knows it reasonably well. I'll email you nearer the date so that we can arrange to meet up.

Its been about 25 years, the TFTGO tour can't remember the exact date...

It's going to be fanatsatic.. one highlight will be meeting up with monandy3 and hopefully sound_chaser too. Roll on Yestalk!

Well now, "Gates" was back in Paris. I will pray for it's inclusion in the Brighton set list, because ALL of you certainly deserve to experience the majesty that YES can deliver!

If not for the lack a $$$$, I would try to join you lucky folks!

25 years is quite a long wait. I am confident that you're going to be drooling on the day of your show!

R4U: It hasn't been quite that long for me. I first saw them in 1980 at Brighton on the Drama tour, then fairly recently on the OYE tour also at Brighton. I have seen Steve solo 3 times in between those times. Being close to Brighton is a bonus as lack of cash restricts me somewhat. So when they do make it to the Sussex coast, I'm there.

Hope you all have a fantastic gig guys. I am as jealous as anything. Look forward to reading some great reviews.

I've got my fingers firmly crossed that they play Gates. I don't think I will forgive them if they let down the UK fans.

Seems they didn't play it in Manchester last night - and actually played a short set as they had to catc a ferry to Dublin.

Fingers crossed for Gates this time

I have this fear that Gates is just being reserved for capital cities now - I pray I'm wrong. Fingers crossed for Gates at Brighton (and Nottingham of course!)

I've got the same feeling - so much so that I've got a ticket for one of the Hammersmith shows.

In the words of Genesis, Tonight Tonight! This is getting silly I am actually getting excited about seeing the boys tonight in Brighton. I've got to work this morning but apart from that it'll a be in the shower jump in the car and down to Brighton. It takes me about 1.1/2 hours to get there so I will leave nice and early so I am there for when the doors open. Listen out for a 850 Volvo driving through the town with Magnification blaring out of the windows. I'll be wearing a Chelsea training sweatshirt so if any of you spot me come up and say Hi. If you want to see what I look like click the link

and click on shedend

see you all there have a great time, I will

Oustide the concert hall at 6.30. The plan is to go off for a pint or two. Hope you can make it.

I promise not to wear my Man Utd strip! Actually I had to give away my Man Utd vs Chelsea tickets cos bournmouth was cancelled and brighton clashes with today's match.

Yes, Brighton Rocks!! The best I've seen in nearly thirty years of Yesshows! The orchestra really made some of the pieces and yes they did play gates, When I come down from cload nine I'll try and post a review.
Massos, Sorry I missed you I was a bit later than 6.30. Great gig. I was sitting right next to the mixing desk 3rd row up on the raised stalls.

Sorry I missed you too. Looks like we were two rows behind you!!
I went up to some bloke outside the concert hall thinking it was you
and got a rather suspicious look.
I did meet u[p for a pint with Monandy3 and sound_chaser who are two sound blokes and we enjoyed a couple of pints.

Lets not mention the football:-)

I wasn't far behind you Shedend, raised centre stalls about eight rows behind the desk.Excellent position,I dont think I could of had a better view.
Great gig ay? what with Gates and everything. Everone I talked to thought that it was one of the best concerts they had seen.Good atmosphere, good playing by all, gread setlist, what more can I say,a night to remmember.
BTW,Managed to get a few pics. if they turn out ok will try to post them for all to enjoy.

Hmmmm, I can't wait for Wednesday now, third row at the Hammersmith Apollo, possibly right in front of Steve for a close-up!

As for the football on Saturday

Thrilled you blokes finally got to see what us Yanks raved about! As someone who never saw the '70's Yes, this tour is quite special, even for those of us who've caught the last tours. I never wrote a review, words couldn't do justice. The most concise thing I could say is that I didn't smoke up beforehand, and didn't miss it a bit!

I now understand Proffet! I still can't sleep and my wife keeps asking me to take that silly grin of my face. If it wasn't for the very precarious situation job-wise I would certainly try to cath another couple of shows on this tour.
