Magnification Cover Analysis

Magnification Cover Analysis

Postby Ed Schaum » Sat Apr 13, 2002 5:28 am

Well, by now we know that the cover contains subliminal images, and there are things in that artwork associated with the music.
<font color=green>Hints:

1) Count the spheres in the IDR. Don't forget the magnifying glass rods.

2) Count the notes of the main theme in one of the new songs they performed on the tour.

3) Look around at sites with information about crop circles and how they relate to music and harmonics.

4) The Talisman is the ancient incarnation of the IDR.

5) Read JA's "The Machine" on his site.

6) Look carefully for some subliminal images on the cover.</font id=green>

Can we figure them all out??!?!?!?

Note that there are a bunch of large filled-in circles at both the top and bottom of the front cover. These are more easily seen when viewing the negative image of the cover.

On the top, they go like this..

L?SSLSSLLSSSMLLSSMMSMMSMSSMSS

On the bottom it's
LSSSLSSLLSS?LLLSSSMSMMSMMS???

L=large
M=medium
S=small
There's actually another size between medium and small, but it's not always easy to see which is which.

We also have words -
Parallel Opposite Meroe
Equicoctal Line
Parallel of Meroe
Parallel of Rhodes

The center features the planet orbits, and radiating out from the top and bottom we have the grid.

Under the Mag title on each side, we have another group of circles, maybe more planet orbits.

The purple nebula stuff at the bottom has almost GOT to be something. I keep staring at it hoping that something comes into focus, but so far, nothing. Possibly I've got to ignite some spiritual awakening in order to see more clearly.

That's just the front cover. We have ...errr.. 12 pages to screw around with, this is gonna take forever. Way cool.

I'm at work now, and you have got a head start on me, Ed.

Somebody mentioned that the tour book revealed the Yes logo under a black light.....I wonder if....

Some of the circles groups with 3 sizes seem to match up to the mirrors on the IDR.

In fact, if we were to stretch out the IDR into 1 long... caterpillar... it might show the same pattern as the circles.

Notice that one mirror is right at our purple lady's lips, and another is right at her ear. Any signficance to that?

In fact, you could almost view the whole thing as a necklace? Hmmmmmm, necklace shows up on the album. "I will show you a necklace where the pearls would all be lost/Without the thread between together this would be the golden thread of trust"

The IDR appears to have 28 globes and mirrors. Let's see.... have there been 28 guys in the band? Well, maybe a little less. 28 albums altogether? I dunno, anybody count them all?

What about "the magnifying glass rods"? Are these the circular things (mirrors), or is he talking about the approximately 8 connecting thingies that link some of the globes/mirrors.

So much for all the work I have to do this weekend. Let me find my....magnifying glass :)

In celebration of this newly discovered information about Mag, I'm happy to announce that I've just added the Ancient Tibetan Talisman, first seen on Olias, to our batch of icons.

So now we have both the old and the new.

Here are a couple of interesting crop circle sites that have images that are reminiscent of some of the things in Mag.

http://www.greatdreams.com/crpcirc.htm hmmmm, dreams

That should be enough to get us started.

Oh Shit! This sounds like the great Pink Floyd Pubilus mystery all over again. Mind you, that Twenty Eight dilema is mighty interesting. Doesn't Twenty Eight come just before Twenty Seven and right before Twenty Nine? Now there's a coincidence if ever I heard one!

Someone has mentioned the significance of 7 ... it has something to do with perfection and that, does it not? I'm not much into numerology but I do know this ...

7 is significant.

Assuming we're on the right track with 28, I checked out a site on numerology
www.spiritlink.com/numbmean.html

28 becomes 1 in mumerology (2+8=10, 1+0=1)

Listed for the number 1 at the site I checked out is;
"creativity, independence, originality, <b>ego</b>, self"

("the death of ego"?)

On the cover there is an antique-looking writing layered within the nebula. It seems like a torn scripture. You can see it on the upper left corner right above the Dean logo and on the bottom right.

Regarding the IDR there are definitely 7 main crystal spheres that you can see the inside. 4 of those (the current band members as suggested by PC?) have the attached 12 magnifying glasses. There are 9 additional opaque spheres for the mentioned total of 28.

The antique IDR discovered in Tibet has 4 main spheres, 4 smaller spheres, and 8 very small spheres. ???

What is printed on the CD itself makes me think that the CD represents just one sphere. All of a sudden it seems three dimensional to me, as if I had one of the crystal spheres in my hand.

This is so cool!

According to YesWorld, G4t1 is the tenth, Yesstory is the twentyth and 28th is... BEST OF YES!!! What the hell is this anyway?

Counting the little pics on top of yeshoo, Yes has had 14 members. That's half 28.

That's all I got now.

3 magnifying glasses = 3 eyes for each current member
3 x 4 = 12

Two eyes you are born to see the outside world with, plus the "third eye" which some spiritualists believe in ... Correct me if I'm wrong but it's located in the center of the forehead, I believe. If memory serves it's a pathway to the wisdom of the soul.

Agreed Meesh! When I saw Yes on the OYE tour, I made a conscious decision to fully open my crown and heart chakras (while making a point to keep myself grounded)- I was so blissed out!

Did the same for Ladder tour - Awaken was taken to another dimension!

For Symphonic tour I was so far away from the stage (and aware of the long drive home) that I didn't - as a result the concert was more rocking as opposed to a spiritual experience. But nowt wrong with that!

I apologize if I have offended anyone by implying that certain beliefs can’t be taken seriously.

I am personally willing to believe in anything, but by principle, I question everything!

Any belief system is based on certain assumptions. These assumptions are usually set forth by “enlightened” individuals (usually called prophets) and become “laws” to abide by. These individuals, human beings like you and me, become somehow mediums to “transmit” these “truths”. Once laid down on books like the Bible, the Coran, etc. these “truths” become inflexible and assumed perfect.

Two years ago I took a class on All Religions. It was quite interesting to study the basic assumptions of different traditions. If you compare them theoretically some seem to make more sense than others, but in the end there is no way to “test” their theories so it becomes a matter of personal choice. A serious choice, by the way.

With regards to the Chakras, I can’t say that I don’t believe they exist.

Anyone that has fallen in love can testify that the feeling of love (and most poignantly the feeling of lost love) can be felt clearly in the center of the abdomen, close to the heart, but not shifted left to the heart, but more in the center. It almost feels like it is at the center of gravity of your body.

We know from our biology the organs and “parts” that are located there, and none of them seem to explain why we would feel “love” at that particular location, so the idea that there is something that we can’t see there, a Chakra, might make sense.

We also know that in our head we have a concentration of gatherers of information (visual, audio, taste, and smell), our processing center, and our intake of nutrients. If we accept that there is an important center in our belly, then we would have to accept that there is another very important center (Chakra(s)?) in our head.

Down under we have another very important center where we procreate, experience a lot of pleasure, and where we dispose of refuse. Under the “Chakra” scheme, we would obviously have to have one or several down there.

Thus, Relayer4u may have been right that the “third eye” is really brown, although from my experience, it is purple.

That brings us full circle to the color of the cover of Magnification, which is the origin of this thread.

I LOVE that cover for the new Symphonic DVD. It has a Roger Dean feel to it while it is totally modern and cool. I also like that there is a theme going on that ties it to Mag.

Hey, maybe we are headed for a Harmonic Convergence.

Y'all are on the right track... TOO right. Keep going! Everything ties together... And don't forget to examine the booklet drawings.

And yep... the DVD art relates to Magnification (The Talisman) as well as clarifies one of the contexts for the theme.

Thanks for the kind words on the DVD art! I did the cover, along with several other packaging elements and the menus.

And will the illusion confuse you, play with your thoughts and alter your mind? Um, yeah, I'd say so. Boy, this stuff is mindblowing. When I'm feeling a little more with it, I'll find the Mag cover (be damned if I know what I did with it) and look into this a little more.

Bob, marvelous job on that DVD cover. It has this otherworldly quality to it, and the way your eyes are sucked right through the center of the picture makes you think you're seeing life from the other side. WAY COOL! <img src=pix/icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

<b>Ok, this is going to sound a bit crazy:</b>

I went to the Peter Gabriel site found in the UP thread and followed the link for the preview of his new album. In Preview number 1 he talks about dots and starts counting them giving them meaning, as he is talking these spheres start to arrange forming something similar to the IDR machine of Magnification. The drawing of an old machine rotates and envelops the spheres. It is not the same but it seems similar in nature. Maybe there is something to this Harmonic Convergence theory.

Additionally, someone in Yesfans reported this link:
http://www.lawsonomy.org/Lawsonomy309.html
which talks about Magnification as part of this religious belief. The text seems to refer to a lot of the same concepts found in the album.

It almost reads as if Jon had written it himself!
