Sad news indeed . . . from your account, Nolan, he seemed like just a really nice guy who appreciated music . . . the likes of Yes as well as southern rock . . . I'm sorry to hear this . . . :(

Yes, sad news - I remember the day the plane crashed - we were in college at the time & were looking forward to seeing them live in the UK in a few months, so we were all stunned.

'freebird' was the one we always used to play at the local 'Rock Soc' & was the one where you finally grabbed the girl you'd been talking to all night & then rocked it out with her...

in a rare event for me i was in a night club at the weekend - y'know the kind of place where they sell cocktails & young things cavort about to music so loud you cant here y'self speak..

Well, they had a band (well a keyboard player & a guitarist..) & they closed their excellent set with 'Sweet Home Alabama' (Dr Yes' favourite track! :D ) as a tribute to Billy.

Shocked & stunned I was, shocked n stunned! Nice, & unexpected gesture.

The Heavenly Rock Band (Band Du Cumulo Nimbus) is growing.. luckily it decided it wasnt ready for a new bassist just yet...
