Huygens on Titan

Congratulations to the European Space Agency for successfully landing the Huygens probe on Saturn's moon Titan today. For the first time we can have a peek at what's under those clouds way out there. Other Skylines, indeed.

Absolutely nothing tops Awaken for causing emotional meltdown, but I have to say that when Roundabout came out when I was 13, that Hammond riff got my attention (well, the whole song did) in a big way.

Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon

I should also mention Dark Side of the Moon. This is not a concert video, but I found it fascinating. It's about the conception and production of the album, featuring extensive interview segments with the band members plus Alan Parsons. Gilmour, Waters, and Wright each play (solo) bits of some of th...

Highly recommended King Crimson video: Deja Vrooom - from the mid-90s, featuring the double trio. Some of the tracks have multiple camera angles so you can select the player of your choice and not only get the video to stay on that person, but they're more prominent in the audio mix as well. There a...

Hot Rats is great. I also like Sleep Dirt - anybody know who the other musicians are on this album? It's from the late 70s, so I could guess, but don't really know for sure, and there weren't any credits on the sleeve.

From Robert Fripp's online diary, 9/11/2004:

"The surround sound on the new KC DVD doesn't work. The US pressings were pressed prior to DGM HQ being given a test DVD to check."

Liberal Visitation

...50/50 joint custody, with liberal visitation. Should I be wary of that?? LIBERAL VISITATION?? Does'nt that mean that he could take my son whenever he wants?? I'm probably gonna say, "Ok, Liberal Visitation it is, but within reason ". No doubt the law and its interpretation varies from st...

AHA! Finally! (No, not that song.) Fiendishly clever hint, Simon. 'the song which "occured" just a few years ago' must be on a fairly recent album, right? Hmm, no luck there, after much searching... what "will not happen again for a long time" - a comet? an eclipse? Man on/in the Moon! No, that does...

A bit off-topic, I know, but... Tomfoolery, what's been your experience with NAV 2004 (vs. earlier versions)? I've seen a lot of bad reviews saying it's problematic to install, even harder to uninstall, is seriously buggy and/or completely kills performance if you do get it installed, and that Syman...

I was copying and pasting too, but got blown out of the chat halfway through. I'd be willing to do it for the other ones I can catch, but it may not be necessary. There should be an archive of the chat on MSN, but it doesn't look like Jon's is available yet.
