Re: Great Tormato session: creating OtSWoF

I love this video! I know they're coming to the end of the road for this lineup and tensions are a bit on edge, but the creative process is a wonder to behold—a bit like watching the Beatles on the "Let It Be" sessions. For me, Alan tries the hardest to make the song magical again. I hope they do th...

"Linked" with Jon Anderson

On Sirius/XM channel 79, a classical station, there's a new monthly program called "Linked," hosted by Peter Cummings, who's a Board member for the New York Philharmonic. The program shows the connection between classical music and contemporary rock/pop music. This month's guest was Jon Anderson. In...

Asia's "Phoenix" and "Omega"

I've listened to them both a number of times, even one right after the other, and I have to say that I prefer "Phoenix" over "Omega." A lot. All the reviews I've read at the iTunes Music Store have people preferring "Omega," but I just don't see it. Another review said that "Phoenix" sounded like th...

Bizarre!

It's darn near unlistenable, as well as screamingly unfunny.

Outside of that, it's fine.

Great cover, but was the music supposed to be funny or just sound like something too unfunny even for Dr. Demento?

Hopefully, this will be released on the iTunes Music Store, because the only track I'd be interested in purchasing is "Vultures." I have the original single cassette, but needless to say, it sounds terrible.

I wonder if this is a region-free release of the JApanese DVD of the tour. That was the best-sounding live DVD Yes has produced, but it wasn't the entire show.

Either way, count me in.

It's not always a choice to go; they barely visit the UK anymore, and when the last did I missed the single night where they were anywhere near me. I'm hoping Anderson and Wakeman's UK tour this Winter will have more dates. Well, after reading this article, it looks like Jon is well enough to tour ...

Rick and the Inflatable Dinosaurs

I was listening to Rick's "Grumpy Old Rockstar" audiobook and he was talking about the 1974 Journey To The Center Of The Earth tour and he told a great story of the giant inflatable flatulent dinosaurs. These are not the same dinosaurs that Rick was talking about, as these are two different types, b...

I think it will be recreated in spirit only. To do a full re-creation, they'll have to bring back Jon Anderson, Patrick Moraz and Peter Frampton's hair.

Re: Getting a bit sick and tired...

I distinctly remember the band playing Close To The Edge out at the Westbury Music Fair in Long Island in 2008 (I will always call it Westbury Music Fair because it keeps changing the name.) David messed up the lyrics a bit but it was still a great performance. And in all likelihood, Jon isn't liste...

I don't think Jon would go for that, given that Trevor Horn is a link to the Drama era.

Re: Rick Wakeman's "Always With You"

Yes, this is the piano-only album. His reworking of "Stairway To Heaven" is very gentle and touching, and I don't even like the original (not a Led Zeppelin fan, I'm afraid.) It reminds me of when he reworked "Help." He took that same approach: concentrate on the melody and not the rhythm. Let the m...

Rick Wakeman's "Always With You"

I just downloaded the CD from iTunes. As usual, Rick doesn't disappoint with his playing. It's every bit as rich and textural as ever, showing that he's lost nothing over the years. However the recording of it is absolutely dreadful. There is so much distortion on some high notes that it sounds like...

Honestly, I noticed nothing egregious, save for the Owner Of A Lonely Heart mishap. Insofar as David's voice, it's hard for me to say. Being in the second row on the very right, I was sitting about six feet from Chris's amp and the vocals didn't sound as clear to me as it would've had I sat more in ...

I have this on Blu-ray, and they're not the most "HD-friendly" band, appearance-wise. But this disc is absolutely terrific. Between the House of Blues DVD and the Songs from Tsongas DVD, the band in it's latter stages is more-than well represented. As warm and fuzzy as Yessongs and Live At QPR are, ...

Are Yes still on Atlantic? If not what label are they on? They haven't been on Atlantic for quite a while. Triumph In Poughkeepsie

Wow...what a way to start a tour. The Mid-Hudson Civic Center was nearly or completely sold out (about 3,000), the crowd was incredibly enthusiastic and responsive, and the music was just something else. The band was in mid-season form. Everyone shone tonight. Steve was on fire almost the entire nig...

Hi folks. Just checking in. Just wanted to mention that from the way I've been reading things, despite a few words I've come across, I'd say Rick would be perfectly happy calling the band Yes if Jon and Oliver were in it. Yes In Poughkeepsie/Time For Me To Eat Crow

My dear friend and boss Paul called me up on Friday to tell me that Yes will be playing in NYC in February.
