Re: spring cleaning

Morning all, I accessed the brief snippet made available of 'Believe Again' via Yes's Facebook page. Dunno if it's still available there? There's a further preview of another track coming up this Friday, I think. Not overly thrilled by what I've heard so far, but it's hard to tell from what is just ...

Re: SPOILER!! -- Heaven and Earth Track 01 -- Believe-Again

Re: Here it is ! The first tune from Heaven and Earth ! Morning all, (for 'tis morning in Albion, and a fine morning too. i.e. it isn't raining) If 'Believe Again, is at all representative of the album, I'm prepared to be disappointed. Those lyrics, dear me! Quite ghastly. Perhaps over a few listens...

Re: UK/Europe Tour 2014

I'd heard it was the Bristol show that was being filmed last night, the last show on the UK leg of the tour?
I know no more than that at the moment. Bit tricky to spend too much time on the net at work.......and it's a rubbish day here!

I really, really, really do not like Mondays.

UK/Europe Tour 2014

I posted this review of the show at Leicester's DeMontfort Hall given Tuesday May 6, 2014 elsewhere. As I used to post here, and hadn't realised until the other day that Yestalk was back and breathing, I thought you might like to read it, or perhaps not....... Good afternoon everyone, Tuesday night'...

Greetings, I hope to be going along to the Birmingham show, at Symphony Hall. Smart venue, purpose built for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and with amazing acoustics and sightlines. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/56/146093523_ca3b167532.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3197/293806...

Re: Progressive Telly during Yule!

And this is when it's one (doh!) It's on January 2nd, BBC4, 10.00pm (GMT), and is preceded by something called Prog at the BBC at 9.00pm, archive performances, most likely from Whistle Test, all part of a mini-season Prog Rock at the BBC . I expect it'll receive a BBC2 screening at some point.... Be...

Progressive Telly during Yule!

Hi all, I came across this on Henry's site, here is a more complete reference: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2008/09_september/12/bbcfour5.shtml As it's on one of the Beeb's digital channels, is may well be viewable outside of the broadcast zone. Enjoy! Best wishes, Ash

Re: I finally got to see Yes!!!

Congrats. I saw Yes first on Drama tour and was a bit displeased with Trevor Rabin instead of Jon, but it was pretty cool, not the YEs I had grown up with, but OK. I think someone pushed a joint on me, so I don't remember much about that firs tconcert. I liked the Jon Andrson solo tour the next yea...

Re: Circus of Heaven is Hell

Hi, I'm not sure it's quite so twee and simplistic as it might at first seem. When I typed out the lyrics onto my PC years ago, along with all the other Yessong lyrics, I found it divided up neatly in to 4 line verses, which makes it structurally seem a little tighter than it does on the original al...

Re: best tour of the last 15 years

Hi, Symphonic was special, not least for the reimagining of Gates and Ritual, I didn't attend the 35th Anniversary shows, too expensive, too difficult travelling if you don't drive (I don't), and I don't like arenas. 2003/Full Circle was a bit flat for me, too long and they got real tired-sounding. ...

Re: I finally got to see Yes!!!

Hi, I've been reading lots of positive reports about Steve and his playing on this tour. I'm thinking his time with Asia has kept him sharp and focused, and his playing has regained some of the old fire and fluidity. I really hope they make it across the pond next year, and play similar size venues ...

Hi, I wasn't too thrilled with the sound on Montreux, but I am with Yes The Director's Cut, which is exactly the same set but from a concert 12 days earlier. OK I was there, and I caught sight of myself on the DVD so I'm hardly impartial! Watching it last night and this morning (I only bought it thi...

Hi, I, too, was shocked on reading Jon's blog, but on reflection I'm not overly surprised at how badly the rest of 'not Yes' seem to have treated Jon. I've sent him a message of love and support via his My Space page, 'cos I care about the old boy! Not sure about how I feel towards Steve and Chris r...

Hi all, Not sure where to post this for maximus coverage, 'cos it's short notice, buuuuut, for UK-based folks, tonight on BBC2 at 7.00pm (BST), there is a recorded Prom concert from the RAH featuring Janacek's Sinfonietta and Brahms's 4th Symphony. The former will be familiar to ELP fans as the basi...

Hi, Ooooh, now you're putting the old grey matter to the test! I certainly remember the Connection, but I don't think I ever actually participated. Hi, again, Oops! I've just noticed the title of the thread: Wembley Stadium 1978. It wasn't the footie stadium, it was Wembley Arena, then known, somewhat anachronistically, as The Empire Pool: The Stadium is but a short distance away, sort of behind the Arena. http://www.tmwmtt.com/blog-extreme-gro...

Hi, Yes, it was an exciting time to see the guys on stage, even if they weren't clicking with the writing and in the studio. As I listened to some of this concert the other day, I realised with a jolt that it is 30 years this year! As I assume the BBC still have the original tapes and own the rights...

Tour Cancelled!

Hi all, Sadly, the 2008 Tour has been cancelled as a result of Jon's health. It seems his May 13th asthma attack was somewhat more serious than originally thought, and his doctors advise him not to tour, at least this year. An official announcement is expected soon. http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnyes...

Back to the Future!

Hi all, I have the good fortune to work in an academic library, and a student here, for reasons best not gone into, has requested from our archives a complete run of the magazine Radio Times from 1970 to 1985. I should probably explain that the Radio Times was, and is, a weekly TV listings magazine ...

Re: Does your YES "Flame Still Burn" !?

I've imagined it a number of times. Yes' final concert at Madison Square Garden, the Union line-up. They would play an all day set and end the night with 'To be over'. A single tear would work its way down my face and someone would completely kill the moment by screaming "Do Freebird!". Is that too...

THAT...is one of the greatest things that has appeared on a Yes remaster. Beautiful!! Hi all, Amy, I completely agree about the Revealing intro, it's gorgeous. I believe the band discussed performing an edited version of it in 1998, but Steve was adamant it was all of it or none of it. Good for him...

Hi all,
I guess it's not unreasonable to regard 'So Long Ago So Clear' as a guest vocal spot on Heaven and Hell, since it predates their other collaborative ventures by several years.
Must be up there as one of Jon's most gorgeous performances....?

Re: Song : Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands.

Hi, Dylan's voice is a uniquely expressive instrument. While it's not the most conventionally attractive of voices, nor one of great range or purity, he recognises his vocal strengths and limitations, and uses them well and to great effect, and has consistently done so over a very long span, compara...

Hi, Yes, very nice version of a Dylan classic, from the Blonde on Blonde album (last track). Probably one of Jon's best performances of someone's else's music. Apparently Dylan has never performed this song live. Neither has Jon Anderson as far as I know. Steve Howe is a huge Dylan fan; he named his...

Hi, Well, sanity and reason, relatively speaking, of course. Oddly enough, I was listening to Renaissance's Live at Carnegie Hall album recently and Annie's voice on part of 'Scheherazade' (spelling from memory, but then when does spelling not stem from memory? I digress), where was I? Oh yes, I rem...

Hi all, I've been an admirer of Annie's for many a year, and saw Renaissance a couple of times in college venues in the UK in the late 70s. Always a terrific band. It's great to hear she's enjoying good health again, and making music, and I wish her well. BUT: angels? Sorry, no. No matter how attrac...
