Hope they enjoy their night and hopefully they'll get some decent publicity/interest from it.

Other than that, who gives a fuck?

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO AGAIN

But seriously whilst I think Geoff is far from the most technically proficient ever in the berth [sorry Geoff], I know he has read some forums and it isn't nice to fantasise about someone losing a job they like. You are correct in that and I apologize if my ranting seems out of line. Having said th...

Apparent;y it's still Christmas [although I'm at work] until twelfth night. So whilst I've said it before, I'll say it again: Merry Christmas everybody [hmm, that might make a decent festive song].

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO AGAIN

I think Downes is a personal friend of Howe and it seems like a fairly stable ship and at this stage... personally I was mightily impressed with Brislin's performance [particularly on Gates] during the Symphonic tour. But seriously whilst I think Geoff is far from the most technically proficient eve...

When was Yestalk ever moderated? I was a moderator once upon a time [before I had to change my name to get re admittance]. I think you had to be pretty vile to risk any sort of sanction and I'd never prod people for bad language [glass house resident of long standing]. But I guess in many ways the b...

Re: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO AGAIN

Good. it's decided then. Since there are no objections I believe it's time for us to begin planning the coup. Next Yes concert, we'll invite Oliver for pizza. He will of course come because who could turn down an invite for pizza from the Yestalk board. Then, some 30 minutes before the concert begi...

I don't mean that in a particularly good way either You couldn't take that in a good way! [I think you're right unfortunately - I'd watch Steve Howe play in a coal shed, but it's a struggle to accept he and a few random musicians playing Yessongs together are Yes and the audiences do seem to be dwi...

Re: Only Alan

Remember Rick's prediction of a Yes long after the original members are dead and buried. The perpetual Yes idea is routinely trotted out on YesFans and it annoys the hell out of me. It's a stamp-collector's or brand-slave's idea of Yes. I know there's still a Glenn Miller orchestra [actually severa...

Course you're remembered Tater. If we can just find a couple of others we may be able to get a conversation going again in this place. It's awfa' quiet since it reappeared will o' the wisp-like.

Why the 90125 lineup? Steve is the only one from the Yes Album lineup - there's no-one from the first two albums. I guess with Anderson no longer in the band and Chris' death, that continuous chain is broken forever...

Unfortunately this place gets so little traffic it isn't going to get them a lot of additional votes - including from me. Personally I couldn't give a monkey's whether they get in or not. It's a rather parochial institution and it doesn't have much credibility in my eyes - it won't have any more by ...

It's probably shocked many of us how deeply this has touched us. I suppose it means finally whilst there may still be a band called Yes on tour [and I will go and see them] in truth there can not really be a Yes anymore now that one of the three essential elements [for me at least] is no longer on t...

Re: Dear Chris

A bit shell-shocked when I heard the news last night. The prognosis did seem gloomy, but I always felt it unwise to speculate in public on something I neither had knowledge of in general, or access the details in the particular case of Chris. I was of course hoping against the odds he'd be up with t...

Re: Does The Ladder really suck?

I'm not sure if it was the very first, but it may well have been - certainly it was at the cutting edge in that regard. In some ways perhaps it was a little bit too ahead of its time as some people find it a bit harsh and compressed. There may be something to that, but it's still my favourite of the...

It's good that a [by all accounts] close personal friend of his is keeping his seat warm for him. Billy has stepped in to keep the Yes ship afloat with Chris's blessing. Let's all hope he can make a speedy recovery from this serious illness and take back his rightful place on the right of the stage....

Re: New Yes Live box set

It's not my favourite era of Yes - I might be atypical but Fragile and CttE are my least favourite albums from the main sequence. I'm not a huge fan of Yessongs - I prefer Yesshows by a country mile. The thought of having seven recordings of an identical setlist from that period just isn't igniting ...

Re: Hello again

Unfortunately Tom, since its resurrection I'm not sure it's got beyond being anything but a spluttering basket-case.

It's a real shame because I think that at its peak it easily outclassed any similar board for substantial dialogue.

I'm at a loss for how we administer CPR.

Re: Merry Christmas and a hopeful new year

RT Baker was not the best choice to produce the album. He's left too big a mark on the final result. The songs on Heaven and Earth are not bad, it's the arrangements and production that made it more lame than at least I had hoped for. That's almost exactly what I think too - biggest problem I feel ...

Merry Christmas and a hopeful new year

Well, seasons greetings to any of the old crowd who comes across this. What are your hopes for next year, band-wise? I was actually hoping that Heaven and Earth would be a step on from Fly From Here, but I can't help feeling it's a step back. I hope if they do a further studio album it will be more ...

It's the sort of thing that leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I didn't subscribe - I'm not sure why, ultimately not interested enough I suppose, although I may have investigated the finished product. Jon has a long history of unresolved projects. Unfortunately rumours also abound that there have been...

Re: Fly From Here - Any thoughts?

For me their last great album was Magnification. I enjoy FFH, but I think they need Jon, Steve and probably Chris to produce their very best. That isn't a plea for the return of Anderson [much as I might see that as an ideal]. You have to be realistic about these things - if for whatever reason the ...

Re: Fly From Here - Any thoughts?

Whilst it's not up there with the very best, it's stayed with me more than H&E. I prefer it over all to Drama, although I don't think the highs are up to that peak. I think the level of performance and finish is much superior to their last outing, which for me sounds like they devoted too little tim...

Re: Heaven and Earth - what does everyone [anyone] think?

I can understand the negative reviews and many of the negative comments. This is on the whole quite a 'soft' album and perhaps because of that, the veneer of 'lightness' it might be not unreasonable to make the assumption there wouldn't be too much in the way of hidden depth. I made that mistake too...

Heaven and Earth - what does everyone [anyone] think?

Not much activity here but it would be nice to have a high-quality discussion about the new album.

I will keep my powder dry at the moment except that I will say I can't remember how long it is since I fairly radically changed my mind about a new Yes album.
