Queensryche

Hey, yes-folk.... I am an older school Queensryche fan (meaning Hear In The Now Frontier) or earlier, and I am going to the in-studio acoustic set in Dallas tomorrow AM as I've won some tickets, I am then going to their afternoon VH-1 sponsored "save the music" deal in the early afternoon. No doubt ...

Studio or nothing...

All I want is studio stuff. Great to hear it live, but live albums are only a captured memory. I have very little live stuff in my collection.

It is Awesome!

Let's face it. Yes became too proud of their own producing abilities as of late, and this album allowed someone to come in and say, "Hey, that sucks, start over." Magnificraption is a great example of no outside influence equating to sub-par musicianship. The Ladder is the best album since Talk bar ...

Don't Agree

Haven't posted in months if not a year... Drama is an experimental album with no commercial appeal at all. Commercial equals some decent album sales, and this album had very little. Even Tormato sold better in the states, and we could all post an interesting view on that album. As many years as I've...

As a box set...

Yes, they are releasing those albums (Exit Stage Left as a technical correction) this summer. Originally they were to be released separately, but they were later combined for a box set only release. I've had the p/g and Show of Hands on laserdisc for 12 years or so, so I am more hoping for extras si...

All Studio

I don't care for Live music recorded. Live and in person, very interesting. I just don't care for live sub-par recordings of songs unless I am there to see it. In other words audio without the video isn't worth it to me.

Worse when you live in Texas. Huge state - no dates. It is over 800 miles to the nearest announced date.

I can't rank that high!

It is too difficult for me to rank 20-30 songs, but I think The Ladder is in the top half of Yes albums easily. You and I have defended The Ladder on countless occassions. Within the album, this is a favorite of mine. I think you either love it or hate it. I'd argue to death Yes needs someone like B...

Astral is Smart

I am biased to Rush, but 30 years later you have to admit they are a foundation in rock. Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures are perhaps the most dominant albums back-to-back in the 80s. There is so much talent in those albums it is unmistakeably premier. Even the casual prog fan will recognize Rush's ...

Wow! Many of you are making me feel old.

My first album (which was on cassette) was Rush, Fly By Night.

Since Rush is my favorite band, it sometimes strikes me odd that was my first purchase.

I can see where one could confuse the positive sounds of THE LADDER with an attempt at commercialism. However, I don't think this is what they were after at all. For me, THE LADDER , with Steve back in full force and with Fairbairn at the production helm, there was a musical statement to be made. I...

That really sucks. The one thing I've noticed about Rush set lists is that they don't seem to want to play any long form music. There's a live disc from them (can't remember the name) and they play all of 2112 except for b.) Discovery... They can't do long stuff live or something?? They're shows se...

First thing I've ever heard you do, and I like the guitar work. Obviously the time signature and mood changes make this fall under the "prog" category. Constructively, the lyrics are a little underproduced and hide behind the guitar a bit too much for my ear. I can only imagine the work that goes in...

Maybe I am wrong, but Foreigner always struck me as a band that reached a demographic Rabin wouldn't be interested in entertaining. I always placed Foreigner in the (to use a cliche) red-neck, white trash type audience. There are plenty of other "rockers" who've made millions reaching this group, so...
