Re: Keys to Ascension

2 things. Yes, there are overdubs on the CD. I actually have a non-overdubbed soundboard of one of the nights. It's not too different. Mainly backing vocals. But the other thing is that there were three shows at SLO and the video isn't always from the same night as the audio is, actually, I don't kn...

Re: Progressive Nation Tour

Tardis, Yeah, that is true about DT's setlist varying. I though I remember them not switching it up too much when they co-headline, though. They also do great cover tunes if you happen to catch it. At various shows I saw them, I've seen them do: Pink Floyd's Echoes, Machine Messiah and the entire Ma...

Re: Progressive Nation Tour

On paper, this looked like a perfect show for me. Dream Theater is one of my top 3 bands. And I LOVE Opeth, of course, I grew up on thrash metal back in the 80s so I have no problem with the vocals. Can't say I'm familiar with the other 2 bands, but based on the responses, I should probably check th...

Shostakovich's 7th Symphony (Leningrad) - for the second time in a row. Haven't heard it in years and it's the only disc I brought to work today. What a gem!

Re: Before guitar tab

We spent more time trying to figure out what they were playing than we did practicing how to play it. We skipped passages of songs because we couldn't figure out what they were playing. We learned things incorrectly and then years later had to "unlearn" songs and then re-learn it the correct way whe...

Re: MPA shuts down Powertabs.net

I think one of the mirror sites is still up and running, but it certainly doesn't contain the entire archive. I have a few Yes and Steve Howe tabs plus a few others I can send you if you'd like. Driving home yesterday, I was thinking of learning Back in NYC by Genesis. I always thought that it was ...

Re: MPA shuts down Powertabs.net

That totally sucks. That was one of the greatest sites ever. I knew I should've saved all those files. I just figured I could always go there and view them online. At least I saved a couple. That shit really pisses me off. Makes me want to find those people, go to their house and destroy something t...

Re: Live Yes track of the week - Week #1 - Starship Trooper 10/28/78

Well, after that underwhelming response (although, thank you Bruce), I'll just post my review: The song starts off with a familiar bang. Steve had that great distorted sound that I miss so much nowadays. Also, he's playing tasty fills all over the place. Rick is mostly playing chords on the keys dur...

Live Yes track of the week - Week #1 - Starship Trooper 10/28/78

Now that Yes is gearing up to tour again, there's starting to be some more activity here and I figured it'd be a good time to start this little project that I'd been thinking about doing. I've seen it done on other fan forums with varying success. So I figure I'll try it for a month and if there's e...

Re: What will Yes' next release be?

I voted for a live DVD of the upcoming tour, as I think that's what it's going to be. But my personal preference is a DVD-Audio release of one of either CttE, Tales or Relayer. Mostly based on the quality of the Fragile DVD-A. However, I realize that DVD-A is kind of a dead format. No one bought the...

Vancouver, huh? There's pretty good audio from that show floating around, too, and the Gentle Giant opener. Actually, isn't there footage on one of the GG officially released DVDs from that? Just looked it up. Nope, I was wrong. Sorry about that. By the way, I love the DVD, Hed. Thanks for all your ...

Yes, I caught them a couple months back on the first leg at the Keswick in Glenside, PA. My brother surprised me with 3rd row tickets. He had asked me to keep the night reserved, but wouldn't tell me where we were going. The funny thing is someone at work asked me to go to the show and I said that I...

Yes, the site was definitely down for quite a while. There were a bunch of chatter over at Yesswap about how to get it back up. I know some people tried to contact Pete about it. Not sure whatever came of it. But it's back up now, which is great news.

Good to see you again! By the way, the DT forum was recreated over at http://www.dreamtheaterforums.org if you're interested. I guess so many people were posting "Dream Theater Sucks" type of stuff and the band didn't want the forum affiliated with their website anymore. Anyway, hope to see you post...

Re: Saw Genesis Last Night..........

I didn't see them live, but I did check out the TV broadcast of one of the earlier shows in the tour. It was pretty good, but not worth the several hundred dollars it'd cost for tickets, parking, babysitter, etc. Now the Musical Box in December, that's another story! And at less than half the price ...
