Re: This and That IV

Batman. Because he is dark and complex, yet heroic. He has a tragedy lurking in his past, and this motivates him to combat evil in his own way, on his own terms. I like the whole gothic vibe of the movies. And, I prefer seeing a hero emerge from the dark underbelly of this planet rather than coming...

Re: This and That IV

Generally speaking I hate musicals with a very few notable exceptions. My Fair Lady being perhaps the most significant of those exceptions - but there again it does stick pretty close to the GBS original. I've also enjoyed some of the Steven Sondheim stuff I've seen. I was very pleasanlty surprised ...

Re: Question YES or NO

As things stand I think it's more likely than a studio outing with Jon on board. I'd settle for the former, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope it would be more than pallid in comparison with an Anderson-involved effort, much as I love the work of the other guys.

Re: Muse, new CD

I've always considered Muse to be like a sort of "modern ELP", only no where near as good... One day true progressive rock will be reborn I get the Queen comparisons, I get the Radiohead comparisons, but ELP? Actually I think they're far too good for that. And I would argue they are progressive; th...

Re: This and That IV

PBJ - Peanut Butter and Jelly Lunch meat here isn't Spam. Spam is sold, and you can make sandwiches with it, but I think more people use it like regular meat - fry it up as an entree. My mom used to bake it in baked beans, and we'd carve off pieces to eat with the beans. Lunch meat would be more li...

Re: This and That IV

I've no idea what PBJ is but it's bound to better than luncheon meat. I hate spam. I only ever eat sandwiches on the go or short of time - I feel empty if I don't get a cooked lunch, but I rarely eat breakfast except on holiday. I suppose I'm just naturally lucky - I've weighed around 10st10lb [150l...

That's one I've been hanging on for too. My most eagerly anticipated disc of the year for me - it looks promising.

Re: This and That IV

Breakfast indulgences - donuts or muffins? Not the English way, don'tchyaknow. We have recently had the option of Danish Pastries at breakfast time [which I quite like]. Which segues quite neatly into: Full English [breakfast*] or Continental [nonsense†]. *Main course consisting usually of bacon, e...

Re: This and That IV

Personally I like meat, but the other 'arf, much like yourself Diane, doesn't eat any red meat. I've come to love fish mainly from eating it in Europe. Up until relatively recently anything that wasn't battered was usually disgusting in the UK [still often is]. I cook a lot of fish myself and even o...

Re: This and That IV

We're both good cooks. I only tend to cook something elaborate when cooking for someone else though. We tend to specialise in different things. I mostly do eastern dishes - Malay, Thai, Indian. My partner does Italian in the main - her porcini rissotto is legendary. Dry dishes or saucy - what's your...

Re: BEERlieve it or not part 2

Not sure when the practice ended, but certainly during the middle ages most poor people drank weak beer throughout the day - the fermentation process meant it was safer than drinking water.I imagine this was especially true shipboard where potable liquids would have to be kept for long periods.

Homemade coleslaw is hard to beat. The prepackaged stuff? Meh.

Convenience aside, which would you rather eat [in general] restaurant prepared meals or your own or partner's cooking?
