Billy Sherwood Solo CD Nominated for best prog CD of 2008

I hope Billy doesn't mind me posting this here (it's from an AGP thread): -------------------------------------------------- Hello friends !! I'm proud to say my solo CD "At The Speed Of Life" has been nominated for "best prog CD of the year" at usaprogmusic.com. The nomination is an honor indeed. I...

Thanks for the info Steve. Looks really cool. You know I'm right behind this from my comments on AGP - thanks for posting the info here at YesTALK too.

I just want it (the election) to be over. I don't know if the UK media has been as obsessed as this time round. Says a lot really.

Re: I need help writing a paper on The Beatles influence on Yes

Interestingly, the one and only 'cover' I can think of with Howe in the band was America True Chris, but the George Harrison influence/appreciation is very clear in Howe. Check out the Tomorrow album from 1967 too - a great (IMHO) version of Strawberry Fields Forever in which Steve covers many of t...

Re: Where are the musicians?

Hello [:yes] forum :) :) I just realised I have been away from here for over a year  Currently fronting a prog covers band in the South east UK called NOODLEHEADS. In the set,we have "South Side of the Sky" and "heart of the sunrise" both of which are a real blast to play. Also covering tunes ...

Re: Be Nice To Yes Week!

Grumble grumble, oh all right then ;) .

I saw the Steve Howe Trio recently and it really surprised me how good Howe is in an intimate setting. And given the size of theatres the band's playing on its US tour, I think the fans will appreciate getting up close and personal in a smaller venue.

Re: Squire's Response.

'Cause they already waited four years and who knows if it is another six months (besides in six months' time I'm seeing Howe with Asia, so that wasn't a possibility). People don't seem to be grasping the concept that the choice is see these guys without Anderson, or don't see them at all. It's pret...

Re: Squire's Response.

Just as I suspected, Jon overreacted, as usual. Now what I can't quite figure out is I've seen a lot of people bashing Howe, Squire and White for going out on tour and stating that they aren't going to see a show. To each his own, but I'm fairly certain that a lot of these same people were all for ...

I'd like the opportunity to judge for myself and [prefer to] live in hope... Half the flagon is better than none. I totally agree Chris. Honestly, I hope the tour IS the success everyone is wanting. Maybe to use your analogy though, these days I prefer my flagon to be full of finely produced wine o...

Re: In the Present Tour Itinerary Announced

I have to agree with Chris. All this wrangling over the personal lives of the band is basically none of our business. Trouble is Simon, when members of the band put information into the public space it becomes everyone's business. Not saying I agree that he (ie Anderson) should have done it. I also...

Not sure sound chaser. I think it's more a case of 'headless chicken'. Even the mods have very little clue/facilities to deal with the slowness of loading (it's taken me 2 mins. to access this thread, a similar time to get the "reply" screen, and no doudt will take 2 mins. to upload). Not a good sit...

Er, no.

That's about as lame as it gets really.

Sorry. It's not going to make me part with any cash. If I want to watch a tribute singer - I can.

If I am to pay £50 to see Yes plus all the related costs I don't want the stand-ins or clones, you know.

Re: Yessong Of The Week: On the Silent Wings of Freedom

I have always viewed this album as reviewing a "Fragile" theme. Like Relayer revisited a "Close To The Edge" theme. I do think they see it in those terms. Yeah, I think I can see that TBP. The emphasis on more tracks overall on the album, more 'solo' oriented pieces and clearer, simpler melodic the...

Except that is in regards to the lyrics. I've spoken on how hideously embarrassing I find Wetton's lyrics on the Asia thread. Well, the ones on this album make them sound like the best bits from Keats. Cheesy and lame as Asia's lyrics are, I'm just about able to erect a mental block to filter them ...

Here are some endless ramblings from me on whether or not Endless Dream is worthy of being called a true Yes epic in the mould of CttE or Awaken? Re: Yes Tributes - Good, Bad, or Ugly?

I did see a Yes trib band in - November, I think. They were awful. We left early, after witnessing a severe butchering of "Starship Trooper". Fortunately, another trib band by the name of Foxtrot had played before them - and THEY were great! For some reason, around my area anyway, there seem to be ...

Off-topic a bit: Back in November of 2005, I went to Las Vegas and rented car with the express intent of driving out to the desert at night and listening to music. the song I love to hate on Tormato"Dont Kill The whale" and again it's mostly the Keys that kill the song but in the case of DKTW the guitar work is pretty bad too Tormato is IMO the worst Wakeman Cd by Yes There's something laughable about the video (if you can call it that) to this song too. I can't really comment on this song - I remember I bought Tormato when it came out, and I didn't love it, I guess I still have it with the rest of my albums but I am not really familiar with it and really forget this song anyway.
