Re: At This Moment Part II

I suppose the icebreakers are working around the clock to keep the ship routes clear.
Actually the temp dropped tonight and its 'only' in the neighborhood of 25 F.
But ice skating is an option as good as any I guess!

Re: At This Moment Part II

Of course my 'pah' was very much toungue-in-cheek. I'm very aware of the difference, we expect the snow and have equipment for it and most people know how to drive in it (but not everybody, see pic). We have noticed the climate change the last years. Normally the snow comes in late November, but las...

Re: At This Moment Part II

Three inches? Pah!
We have nearly three feet.
Last Sunday we got over one foot and I barely made it home from rehearsals as the snowplows had a hard time to keep the roads clear.
And there will be more coming tomorrow...

Re: Wow where'd everybody go?

Hi Eric! So, you hit thirty and feel okey with that. Wait till you reach forty, life gets even better then. I'll be fifty this summer and I can't wait to see what will happen! Oh, I remember the glory days of YesTalk with the crazy nights in the chatroom and the close circuit of members that were on...

Re: Analyse this

I read somewhere that Kate Bush wrote this song quite late during the recordings of her album and that the song just as well could have not been chosen as a track. The lyrics are based on the novel and follows the plot as Cathy indeed dies and comes back to haunt Heathcliff, as she had promised. The...

Re: Photo signed by Jon and Rick

When Jon signed my copy of GFTO I thought he was putting me on, as he merely drew a spiral looking figure But I learned later that is the way his autograph looks like, so most likely your signed photo is genuine.

Re: The Meaning Of "Close To The Edge"

Interesting thoughts, I agree that the lyrics are very spiritual, perhaps biblical. I believe the meaning of 'Close To The Edge' will never cease to be a subject for conversation. I know I posted this essay I wrote five years ago before, but here is my take on the meaning of 'Close To The Edge'. htt...

Analyse this

For me the lyrics have always been important when listening to music. In part of my my literature studies I learned the tools to analyse both prose and poetry to find any underlying meanings other than what the printed or spoken words give at a first reading or hearing. I thought it could be interes...

Yes in Quebec 1979

Big O World has done it again! Here is a fantastic recording: "Reputed to be recorded by Yes for an official live album but never released, Dynamite Studio’s Circus Of Heaven has been circulating among Yes fans for a while". “A killer Yes show, one of the better known boots from them, and right at t...

Children in Sweden have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument in the communal music school for free.
That could be the reason.

Re: At This Moment Part II

ATM I'm pleased and positively surprised of the test drive of my newly built twelve-string ES-335 model at tonight's rehearsal.
It plays like a charm and sounds like a real jingle-jangle guitar!
Pics soon at the 'Building you own' thread.

Re: Album/CD release date game

Finally! You are so right. Well done. A L is indeed Albert Lee. The band is Heads, Hands & Feet and the debute (double) album was self titled. Singer Tony Colton produced TAAW' (strangely enough with headphones on and kept saying "turn the bass up" and is therefore somewhat responsible for Mr Squire...

Re: Album/CD release date game

Got you stumped huh?

OK another clue then.

These guys were 'country boys at heart' and the guitarist A L certainly is one.
In fact, he is one of the best. Emmylou Harris has said that, when God asks her what she is proud of she will say 'I played rythm guitar in a band with A L'.

Re: Album/CD release date game

Here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul. No that's not the one! The band we're looking for broke up in 1973, right before their third album was released. Clapton has on numerous occasions stated that their guitar player, who has had great success in his genre ever since, is THE best gui...

Re: Album/CD release date game

This group's debute album from 1971 has a few Yes connections.
It was recorded in the same studio as 'The Yes Album' and the singer was very much involved in another Yes album.

Re: Tuning for Steve's steel on Going For The One

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I did read somewhere that Steve uses regular tuning on one neck (E A D G B E) and the open E tuning I suggested (E B E G# B E) on the other neck. I'm not sure which neck has which tuning though.
