Re: Free Association

plateau Fragilesi - that's a GORGEOUS pic - where is it?? I want to go there! It's the English Lake District . . . my favourite place in the whole wide world. Just driving the motorway towards it I feel my muscles loosening and the stress falls away from me. Been too long since I was there though! ...

Re: Tales... would it have been better as a single album?

I've often wondered this but sides 1-3 I absolutely love and wouldn't change a minute of them.

The Ancient I have always admired but I don't actually like a lot of it.

But this album I wouldn't change. It was a defining moment to me in musical history.

Hills (Amazing how even in supposedly "free" association how much Yes lyrics influence me).

Chris, it's not my photo, I'm not actually quite sure which site in the Lakes that is. My favourite is actually Scales Tarn on Blencathra but none of my old photos are that good or online.

Like I said, you pays yer money . . .

Odd approach for a "Sound Chaser" though.

Re: Yes Song of the Week: Sound Chaser

Yes, Alan did a superb job on this entire album. That said, imagine what Bruford could have done with Sound Chaser... It's a great point that tomfoolery raises. I'm sure that Bruford would have done great things but I'm glad that White was there. In this case his heightened aggression is part of wh...

Re: YES - Union

Fair enough, you pays yer money you takes yer choice and all that. I was the same with Drama for a very long time - so many people told me it wasn't "real Yes" etc. Picked it up as a cassette in one of those bargain bins and vowed never to let anyone put me off a Yes album again. Be interesting to s...

Re: Altnerate Tunes International, Scotland

You should check out Capercaillie- a kind of Clannad vibe but better. & with more of a traditional Scottish folk thing going on. Their excellent vocalist Karen Matheson has done some good solo albums too. Check out their myspace site -www.myspace.com/capercaillie & their own website. Very appropria...

Re: YES - Union

Hmmm, I'm sooo glad to not be alone. Unionlover is totally correct in that this should have been awful. Yet somehow I think some of those songs are really good and I have no problem playing them again. The really shocking thing to me is that although it's not the world's most cohesive album it does ...

Re: Does The Ladder really suck?

The obvious answer to the question is "no". We are talking about a genuine return to form in my book at least for Yes with this disc. This and Magnification showed me at least that the creative ability in the band was very much alive and kicking. The problem is that these days it's all about image a...
