Re: Yes Song of the Week: Sound Chaser

This was it! This was the first ever Yes song that I ever listened to and possibly aside from Rush's 2112 remains the biggest shock, thrill, confusion, elation I have ever felt from first listening to something. Sixth form common room, someone had a Walkman, never heard one before . . . "Hey, can I ...

Re: Let's Chat!

Predicting when I'll be around is difficult most of the time.

It would be great if there was a sign on the forum saying "chat in session" or something if two or more users were in there though so I could join in when I had the chance.

Re: ABWH vs. Drama

I remember that mock advert; shame Yes don't get that kind of coverage now. Thinking about it I've found these two hard to separate. As in the other thread I love Brother of Mine and in truth Drama has some dodgy parts to it. But to separate them I imagined having to give one or the other up . . . i...

Re: ABWH vs Magnification

Oh my, I think of these albums as two of the Yes orphans ; they both kind of came out of nowhere with nothing qute like them as immediate precedents. ABWH was always going to be controversial as its background implied and when it came out I have to say I had really mixed feelings. There are moments ...

I have the miserable outlook will remember the current living generations in the developed / developing countries as the worst that have ever existed.

I probably prove the statement with this being a Briton but I can't help myself.

Re: Remember this article?

I'll chip in with a purely subjective emotional point of view. By the time I was first played Sound Chaser on a friend's Walkman Drama and Yes (it seemed) had been and gone. When YesWest turned up and then Owner came out as a single I had little idea at all of all the history and politics I just kne...

Re: Yessong Of The Week: Machine Messiah.

Simon, I think the way we see the intent of this song is pretty similar. It's fairly familiar Howe territory - especially if you know The Grand Scheme of Things album. (Not that I know if this is a Howe-penned lyric or not - I speculate it's principally a collaboration between himself and Horne). Y...

Re: Yessong Of The Week: Machine Messiah.

MAKE WAY, MAKE WAY, MR UNPOPULAR IS HERE! Okay, hopefully that isn't too true but I happen to think that these are excellent lyrics in a damn fine song. I would say that while this isn't a Close to the Edge it stands lyrically as being up there with much of Jon's output. This is based on the images...

Re: Remember this article?

Hmmm, and I wonder how the other guys felt about him announcing that he would effectively like to resurrect YesWest? He skirts around it nicely and says he wouldn't use the Yes name but I'm sure that wouldn't have endeared him much to Steve or Rick at the time. I'd have gone to see it of course but ...

Re: Squire's Response.

Dude, the way I see it, why even bother to tour if you're not going to be productive at all? Especially when one of your own can't tour, why not just hold back the 6 months and make some actual MUSIC? And it's not like Jon got sick on purpose. :\ Because some people like to see live shows. Re: Squire's Response.

God above! What does it matter what they call themselves? That line up has every right to call itself Yes. And it's not as if they are exactly trying to spring a surprise on fans by hiding the line-up is it? Saying Yes isn't Yes without Jon; you could have said the same about Steve being missing fro...

Once again I'm with Chris but I've also made a mental note never to deliver something for Kalingzeye to the wrong address should I ever have to do such a thing!

I'm scanning the headlines for "UPS delivery guy vanishes" as I type :D .

Re: In the Present Tour Itinerary Announced

Trouble is Simon, when members of the band put information into the public space it becomes everyone's business. Not saying I agree that he (ie Anderson) should have done it. I also didn't agree with the very open war re: The Syn that took place about a year to 18 months ago. All these things SHOUL...

Re: In the Present Tour Itinerary Announced

I have to agree with Chris. All this wrangling over the personal lives of the band is basically none of our business. And, honestly, no offence meant, but as someone who would go to 2-3 dates of such a tour over here it's getting grating hearing those that do have the opportunity pass it up or being...

Re: It's all... no so good, folks...

Terry, very, very well said. There is a lot of anger and emotion on here but if I've learned one thing in life it's that if you just listen to one side of the story you have virtually no chance of taking a balanced view of it. Period. Even more so when all we're going from is a few paragraphs on a b...
