nine inch nails albums "The Downward Spiral" and "The Fragile" both had contributions from Adrian Belew.
Belew was in King Crimson w/Bruford
Bruford was in Yes w/Anderson

Here's what I came up with, I'm sure there's a shorter way but I can't think of it now...

Peter Tosh recorded "Don't Look Back" with Mick Jagger in 1978.
Jagger had Joe Satriani as his guitarist on a solo tour in '93
Satriani toured with Deep Purple later in '93.
Purple's Ian Paice did an album with McCartney in '99.
McCartney recorded a duet with Michael Jackson in '82.
Michael Jackson recorded "Scream" with Trevor Rabin
Trevor Rabin was in Yes with Jon Anderson...

that was a roundabout way, wan't it?

peter tosh, mick jagger, who sung with the beatles live and we know alan white played seperately with john (plastic ono) and george (all things must pass)

peace

When did Mick Jagger sing with the Beatles?

OK, he happened to be around in the studio when the Beatles recorded "All You Need Is Love" and "Baby You're A Rich Man" but you can't exactly hear him.

HOWEVER...

new, shorter way.
Peter Tosh did a duet with Mick Jagger
Jagger was in the Stones with Brian Jones
Brian Jones played sax on "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" by the Beatles
Beatles > Harrison or Lennon > Alan White.

OK. I'll start this up again: Richard Thompson.

Richard was (I think) in Fairport Convention with Sandy Denny.
Sandy Denny appeared on the movie soundtrack version of the Who's 'Tommy'.
The original lineup of Yes played support to the Who.

Donny Osmond.

This is what I had in mind, Geoff.
RT played with Sandy Denny in Fairport.
Sandy Denny recorded a number of tracks with The Strawbs. (They are in fact collected on an album)
Strawbs once had a keyboard player called Rick Wakeman.
Rick Wakem........nderson!

I'll have to pass on Donny Osmond for now...

See what you mean Hennie, although my route took less steps, unless playing support does not count. Otherwise I could only think of the Pete Townsend>George Harrison>Beatles>Alan White route, but that one too many I think.

The Donny Osmond link can be done in 3 by the way.

Osmond's broadway album was produced by Phil Ramone.
Ramone produced Billy Joel's "The Stranger" (among other albums)
Billy Joel had a guitarist named David Brown during the same time period.
Brown played with Simon & Garfunkel on the '82 "Concert In Central Park."
Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years" had Tony Levin on bass.
Levin played bass with Anderson in ABWH...

More than 3 steps but that was the best I could come up with. I don't know squat about Donny Osmond, probably for good reason.

Sorry for the delay in replying guys, I've been 'off air' for a while.

Well you may not have done it in 3 'Walrus', but I'm impressed with your music knowledge!

Here goes.
Donny Osmond, along with his brothers, we're regular guests on the 'Andy Williams Show', and sang backing vocals on several of his albums in the late 60's and early 70's.
How do I know this? Well I'm afraid that my mum was, and still is, a big AW fan, and my sister and I had to sit through these shows!

Anyway, I digress.
AW did a cover version of the 5th Dimension song 'Never my love', which was also covered by, you've guessed it JA himself, under the alias Hans Christian!

Simple really!

Now, what is the other route from Ann Wilson to Jon Anderson?

1) Ann Wilson sang a song on an Alice in Chains EP.
2) Jon had an affair with a gal named Alice who was into S&M<img src=pix/icon_smile_zzwhip.gif border=0 align=middle>

Done in two!!!

Hi all! Just wanted to chime in and remind you of the rules, reprinted here from the first posting when I started this thread

"Now, with Jon Anderson, it would obviously be any other performer. Please do try to keep it to performers in the music industry, which is a ground rule I didn't make clear last time around. Also, please keep all links within the boundaries of music-working relationships. The last time we had posts like "so and so is the cousin of... who worked on a book with... that was at the wedding of Jon Anderson"! That will not be allowed this time."

I realize this is partially my fault, as I should have been keeping a closer watch over my own thread, but please do try to stay within these boundaries, and keep playing!

Ray

Actually, I was thinking of this:

Ann Wilson played with John Paul Jones on Heart's "The Road Home" record/tour, who played with Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin, who did the XYZ sessions with Chris Squire, who plays in Yes with Jon Anderson.

Wakeman and Ozzy have actually done a fair amount of work together, including Wakey playing on Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Ozzy's Ozzmosis.

Iommi -> Wakeman
Wakeman -> Anderson

How about Gene Simmons?
