Six degrees of Patrick Moraz

Post: # 3017Post gatesofdeliriumcrasher
Thu Aug 07, 2003 10:39 am

There has been some interest in reviving the "Six Degrees" game (you know, where you have to link one person to another in 6 steps or less). So this time, instead of Jon Anderson, I decided to use Moraz. Now, the last time we did this, things got a little off track, so here are the (very simple) rules - it has to be someone in the music/recording business, ans all the links have to be working relationships (last time we had crazy links like "so-n-so is engaged to whositz who read a book by whomever who worked with Jon Anderson").

O.K., I'll throw the first one out there - Link Annie Lennox to Patrick Moraz in 6 steps or less!

Adam Wakeman is part of Annie's tour band

Adam has recoreded with his Dad

who is in Yes

as was Patrick.

Is that the route you were thinking of Ray?

Link Patrick to Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy...

No problem, just insert at the end that Rick played with Jon Anderson in Yes,
JA played with PM!

As for the other one:-
Phil Lynott played with Midge Ure in Thin Lizzy,
Midge was in Ultravox with Billy Currie,
Billy played keyboards on Steve Howe's album 'Turbulence',
and.....well you know the rest!

Try this one for size.

Link PM to Jerry Lee Lewis.

Well, they've both played the piano a bit!

[/quote]Well, Geoff, I guess you are correct, though I was thinking of a slightly different route
Annie Lenox performed with David Bowie and the surviving members of Queen at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, Steve played with Queen on Innuendo, Patrick & Steve were in Yes. I suppose there are other alternate routes as well.

Talking of alternate routes, the Phil Lynott thing...

PM was in the Moody Blues with Justin Hayward (Haywood??)

Justin Hayward was one of the performers on Jeff Lynne's "War of the Worlds"

as was Phil Lynott.

As for this Jerry Lee Lewis thing...need some time !

I have to stray from music to pull this one off, but here goes...

1)Patrick Moraz was in YES with Jon Anderson
2)Jon Anderson and Tom Cruise worked on the film Legend
3)Tom Cruise and Jackie Earl Haley worked on the film Losin’ it
4)Jackie Earl Haley and Jennifer Mickel worked on the film Breaking Away
5)Jennifer Mickel and OB1kenOB where in high school band together

Geoff,

I guess there's no takers on this Jerry Lee Lewis connection.

A clue perhaps?

4)Bonnie Tyler recorded with Rick Wakeman

OK, if you insist!

I know of at least two routes, but if in doubt, try the Beatles!

Your absolutely right!
Jerry and George recorded together.

The other link I was thinking of was when JLL toured the UK, John Lodge of the Moody Blues appeared in his band.

Moraz to Springsteen

Moraz played with Howe in Yes
Howe covered Dylan's 'Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands'
Dylan's 'The Mighty Quinn' was covered by Manfred Mann
Manfred Mann's Earth Band covered Springsteen's 'Blinded by the Light'

I can think of a few others, but they all take the cover version route.

Link Moraz to Greenglade.....

We both have the same first name.
He and his wife used to live 5 minutes from my parents' house, where I lived at the time.
I worked with his wife around '90 in a department store, for almost a year.
I saw Moraz coming out my local supermarket, stared at him, but didn't know what to say. Wasn't totally sure it was he, as he looked older, of course, than the photo on the Relayer album.

I also had a crush on his wife. We used to joke around at work(she had a great sense of humor) ,and I talked a lot with her; I thought she was a definite "hottie", really pretty.

I think she and Moraz were seperated or something.

Ostensibly, I could have asked her out for a drink or a "date lite", but at that time I was quite younger than she , and rather naive.

Gary Moore of Thin Lizzy palyed with Greg Lake who played with Steve Howe in Asia for a few gigs and Howe played with Moraz in Yes

Link Earl Scruggs to Patrick Moraz (Hint: Maceo Parker might work...he usually makes a good linking point for nearly everybody, as does anyone from the Blues Brothers Band)

Earl Scruggs performed on Bela Fleck's album The Bluegrass Sessions.

On Bela Fleck's "Outbound", Jon Anderson sang vocals on one track.

Professor Long Hair, hired by Paul McCartney, to play on Queen Mary, in a private party in 1975.

McCartney and Lennon

Lennon and Alan White

White and Moraz on Relayer.

is that okay? :P

I wasn't sure about the answer, so I didn't post another question!
(and I still believe that wasnt the path you thought... what was it?)

Okay, so here it is...

Moraz <=> Pete Townshed

No, actually I didn't have anything in mind. I just wanted to pick someone that wasn't in the rock genre.

Would Roger Daltrey doing the voice over for the "Yesspeak" DVD count as a degree? If so...
