Great news from the Power Windows site:

30th Anniversary Tour: While on Rockline Dec. 11th, Geddy and Alex confirmed Rush will embark on a 30th Anniversary Tour in Summer 2004. Geddy confirmed they will play 30-35 North American dates and 10 European dates (for the fans "they have neglected for so long"). In addition, they discussed plans for a future studio album which they hoped to record in early 2004 but delayed to celebrate their anniversary on tour instead. They are still planning to record a new album in the near future, however, and plan to support it with another tour to possibly South America (to include Argentina and Chile in addition to Brazil). - Dec. 11, 2003

Cool, huh??

Yes this is great news. I missed the vapor trails tour. I bought the Rush in Rio DVD and it is great. I will be going to a show on the next tour. I am glad they are going to tour Europe. Good for the EU folks to see them .

That is the best news I have heard all year on rock-line
last night. I'm sure this will be one heck of a show,
being that is their 30th anniversary tour. More lights
and lazers, and a dream setlist!! Woo-hooo!!!!

I'm there, dude, and you can bet I'm going to work my ass off to get close seats. There's nothing like a Peart solo up close. Well, maybe a Howe solo has it beat, but barely!

I too am excited about the tour, and I think it is somewhat a surprise that Rush decided to "celebrate" a 30th anniversary tour. Certainly their history has proven they aren't trying to spotlight themselves. I am glad they realized the importance of this milestone.

As for the setlist...
I'll be interested to see what they choose. I am a bigger Rush fan that Yes, which is quite a statement as avid a Yes fan as I am. I was VERY disappointed in the VT setlist because it was way too similar to the T4E setlist.

I remember doing the math...
If you substitute the VT songs for the T4E songs depending on the tour the album was being promoted you had only 6 songs of 28 different tour to tour. Granted, any 28 Rush songs are great, but 6 new additions in a 5 year span. That was weak in my opinion.

Other thoughts?

Well, the setlist better be different. I saw them on the summer ampitheater tour and the fall arena tour last year and the entire setlist was exactly the same except they replaced Vital Signs with The Trees in the Fall.

I have a feeling it'll be the same show. With one or two changes.
