tvm i´ve diceded to cut a person out of my life in order to mentally survive myself. remember that i told you about the girl i drove 2000 miles to she could see her dying aunt? for such a long time i´ve tried to help her only to discover she gives nothing in return (and i don´t mean what you all think!). apparantly she has a history of doing this, take it all and give nothing. a lesson to be learned i guess. i have felt very bad about this for some time, but i´ve made my mind up not to let myself be dragged down or give all of my energy to someone i now understand i can´t help. at least i´ve tried. it´s a shame though, i have a lot of love for her, but this can´t go on. and so can´t my ranting about it. also, tvm i´m listening to the steve howe album and it´s still as good! i get lots of energy from yes!
thanks for listening!

I just went through that with a friend of mine a couple of months ago, take take take and rarely any give. So I understand completely! You gotta do what you gotta do, Tom. And I know you didn't give up without doing your very best to help.

Tom,that`s a tough break. I`m sure you are doing the right thing. But even hearing that doesn`t ease the pain. Listen to the music of your choice, and just remember, you have friends here who are probaly the best support group a person can have. I can attest to this personally after the kindness I saw from others on this site towards me. You were one of them, and just remember none of us are just `takers' either.
Ed, YesJo,as my girlfriend would say; `It`s just not happening.' Give it up while you are behind the game.

I'm kickin back, having serviced the yard. mellowed from a hour or so on the lake (only caught one fish). seriously considering deminishing the number of heineken's in the fridge. and contemplating what tomarrow will be like when I turn 44.

I'm kicking back with a more modest "beer", Old Milwaukee, mmmmm-mmmm.

My cat's trying to make me feel guilty, because I haven't served the tuna yet. I had a rough day at work, mostly because I couldn't sleep last night. But I survived, and my boss voiced appreciation for the work I've been doing.

guild, good luck with your choices. Have you confronted this woman, that she's all-taking? --Not that you should be too concerned for her spiritual health, that's her responsibility.

TVM, kinda pissed off that I missed the AMA Supercross finals on TV. I love watching supercross racing. When I was a kid, I raced a little. Now, I just watch. I'm a big Ricky Carmichael fan. The finals from Las Vegas were on TV this morning and I missed it!!
What was I doing. Well, I was invited to a good friend's b-day party. I took some of the kids hiking to some nearby clay hills. We had a blast! Now, I'm home and watching the 125cc race. The 250cc raced this morning on TV and that's what I prefer to watch. Damn, I missed the finals!!!

I guess now that I'm pissed, I'll have to turn on some Yes and calm down.

TVM, I'm campaigning.

I received today an email from the host of a local radio station's classic rock show - he sent the email to all regular listeners who had mailed him over the course of the past 2 or 3 years his show has been on the air.

His email said that his show was to be taken off the air, along with the other weekly specialist music shows because of a decision by the Radio Authority.

Now this show has a very loyal listenership in the Bristol area - it's not a huge audience, but the station itself is pretty small anyway.

I've been in touch with those listeners whose email addys I have, and meetings etc are already being arranged less than 24 hours after finding out. I've never been involved with any kind of active campaigning before, but this is important to me and my fellow local listeners.

Please lend your support at the Yahoo group I set up about half an hour ago! (NB: This is the only show in my area that would ever play any Yes or other prog - the host of the show, Andy Fox, got me into Dream Theater amongst many others).

Well, just looking forward to a week of work. Sounds funny, but it's true. I enjoy work, for the most part. I need some rest though. We had the big Mother's Day bash at the parent's house. Watched the Lakers steal another game from the Spurs (oh yeah!). After that, went out and ate buffet (oink, oink). So, it's nearly time to crash. Night nite all.

Right now I'm just waking up after a 3-hour nap. Thought I was down for the night. Wrong!

Earlier I enjoyed the ABWH Jones Beach show. Excellent!

This afternoon, when I wake up for real, I'll be on a burning marathon. I'm making some trades for two shows I can't wait to hear - a remaster of the Detroit TFTO show I sent some of you, and the Memphis GFTO show. I'm also trading for a video with someone here (thanks, DTartstar) and will be busy burning a couple of new shows I downloaded onto discs.

I also have a newsletter to write. That will go together quickly, though.

I am very pleased that people here were able to make some suggestions that will help me to attend my first Yes concert in 8 years with a minimum of physical discomfort.

Sometimes you guys must get tired of my yap, but I'm glad I have a place to come where I can talk about my favorite band in the whole world without boring people to tears. Y'all are the greatest. Thanks for making my online time fun and interesting.

Frankly, I doubt it. I'm hoping that a small group of us can arrange a meeting with station bosses, and then however that goes, there'll be a number of letters or one collective letter to local press and magazines such as Classic Rock and Mojo about the general lack of recognition of classic rock music on the UK's airwaves (internet radio is all well and good, as long as you are prepared to pay for broadband).

However, a few supportive posts at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/starrock would certainly help motivate some of the folks!

tonite i saw a concert i never in my dreams thought would happen. the greatest swedish prog band from the 70's, 'samla mamma´s manna' ('gather mother´s manna', it´s just a wordgame) are playing together again after an over than 20 years break. they are an incredibly talented band. the music swings and hops between folk, cirkus music, tango, waltz, childish nonsense improvisations and everything you can imagine, often in mid beat and all in the same 'songs'. they also have one of the best guitar players in the world, coste apetrea. the original drummer had left again, they told, so they had a japanese guy sitting in and this was his first show with them. he knocked me out totally. you see, this music is even more intricate and complicated than yes music. he had it down perfectly more or less. maybe some of you have heard about the group, they toured the us late 70's and got pretty good reviews. they are definitely worth to check out.

TVM,I`m posting for the first time in quite a few days; I`ve had my hands tied to a post. Stout managed to slip his hands out of the knots and break free, but the evil forces are breathing down his neck as he runs and makes a break for it. All of this is due to personal business; We`ve all been through this before. Hopefully,I won`t have to leave anytime soon. By this time,I should have been passed 300 posts. I know it`s no big whoop for most of you,but for a scamp like me who has to take whatever he can get in life,it`s a big deal. I`m just a part-timer whose rear is owned by the purple, orange and white.
I`ve also been planning a vacation for myself. Since I won`t be seeing any concerts due having to fill in for the vets who have a lock on the prime time summer vacation, I`ll be working lots of crazy shifts and it doesn`t pay to throw out money if I can`t go. Why can`t Yes play NYC on a Saturday or Sunday night?
Perhaps the vacation I have coming soon will put the smile back on my face. One of the few things that seems to help me lately is bashing `Pablum Phil'and even that is losing it`s luster. I hope the vacation trip becomes a reality instead of just tentative.
And I hope you are all doing fine here.

yesjo, I was having severe weather at the same time you where.
and I certainly hope you got through it better than I did.

TVM: I am back on line finally. waiting for the electrician (or someone like him). The cable is reconnected, one phone jack is functional. electricity is restored partially.
current list of casualties...
2 televisions
2 vcr's
1 dvd player
1 book-shelf stereo
1 surround sound reciever
4 telephones
2 modems

it hit 16 feet away from where mrs ob1 and I where sitting, nothing between us and the lightening bolt except a big picture window (which alowed quite a view indeed)
family, including pets are all fine.

OB1,

Wow, when I read YesJo's post, I was going to post that she better turn off her computer and unplug it. Good luck with your insurance claiming.

And it's nice to see another Firesign Theatre fan. Maybe we should start a thread in alternate tunes. Civilization HO!------>

Was it loud, OB1?

Sorry about all your electronic gear.

I was a caddy in my youth. The eight of us crammed into a decrepit old open-sided canopy of a storm shelter as the squall line hit. Ka-Boom!!! The bolt hit a tree about 40 ft. away. The sap turned to steam and blew the bark off the tree. I was pelted with pieces of bark of various sizes. The second loudest noise I have ever heard, the loudest being The Who in concert.

It rained 3" in one-half hour. The course flooded. The staff came out with carts and drove the members and their clubs back to the clubhouse. We caddies walked, waded, and swam back, chasing huge carp down the fairways in the post-storm sunshine.

Ken W. Kalls, Yesquire.
