I JUST PICKED UP MAGNIFICATION AND WOW!

Post: # 816Post Vulcan 1

I bought Magnification last night, listened to it through twice today at work, and got comments from three different co-workers, What is that,I did not know they were still around, Didnt they sing Owner of a Lonely Heart, is that some kind of classical music, can I borrow it, etc. Tonight I came home from work and cranked it up and finally gave it a good loud listen, and, WoW is all I can say,

So far my favorites are Magnification,Dreamtime,Spirit of Survival, We Agree,In the Presence of, and Can you Imagine. Also Time is Time reminds me of Time and a Word, anyone else think so?

This CD is just spectacular-what a great acheivement! After 30+ years together to still sound so fresh, I guess that is what makes them so fantastic.

If you don' have it, go get it, you won't be disappointed!

Tickets go on sale tomorrow online for Aughst 9th in Columbia Maryland, I am going to try my hardest to get there! What does ClassicYes tour mean? Are they concentrating on the older songs this tour? I have waited 30 years to see them, cant wait!

Have a great one everybody!

Vulcan, glad to hear you like it so much. I do, too. I listened to Mag for 3 months straight! Now, it's in my occasional rotation. In fact, you inspired me to bump it up to my next cd.

I, too, like the tracks you mentioned. Actually, I like all of them, and I think the only weak link is "Don't Go."

I sure hope they play lots of Mag on this next tour. Unfortunately, I don't think that will be the case. But, one can still dream.

Vulcan, always a pleasure to hear fom you. Though you likely didn't know it, we try to separate any discussion we have concerning YES into several different categories when discussing things other than general topics. For example, discussion regarding albums we typically put in the 'Album' forum, concert-related stuff goes directly to the 'Concert' forum and so forth...you get the picture I'm sure. These options are available on the mainsite directory after you first log on. This nice little thread you have started here will need to join forces with similar threads started in the Album section. I will leave it here for a short while so that you will know where it's headed. Have a nice day.

Vulcan,
Pay no attention to N2yes -- he thinks he's a forum op, or something...

Good to hear from you again! I guess you know by now that Rick Wakeman is back with YES for the tour; thus they are calling this tour "ClassicYes". They have stated that they will be including tracts from Magnification, which is exactly what I am hoping for! Instead of the orchestra, Rick will most likely be filling in. I think that will be so cool! I am really hoping they promote Mag on this tour; it has all the possiblities of becoming a hit if the radio stations will just give it a chance! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Great, another Mag fan and for sure the songs that they did worked very well live with for me the only exception being Don't Go but even that was okay. I certainly hope that this is one post-90125 album that actually maintains its place in future setlists. It certainly deserves it.

Simon.

Oh Vulcan, prepare to become addicted! (despite what Eric says )!

I've had Mag for a while now and still find as much pleasure in it as when I first heard it. There are certain parts that when I hear them I still get shivers. I think it's a wonderful album!!!!!!!!!

My current favorite off Mag is In The Presence Of, I'm really getting into that song for some reason.

Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!!!!

Come on Eric! I think Mag would be our favorite Yes album if they had, say, 1 album in their catalog.

Hi, thanks for the info, I did not know the protocol, and will certainly try to stick to it in the future, I was just so excited.
(Kind of like someone writing all in caps and not knowing what it means, I guess)

Of course one of the co-workers I mentioned managed to borrow it from me today, swears I will get it back tomorrow-I need it for the weekend! I am just glad to have someone at the office appreciate it-she did not know they ever did anything but Owner of a Lonely Heart!

Have a good day everyone!

Vulcan, when I first got Mag, I was playing it in an office at work and this old guy I work with came in and inquired about "that beautiful music" I was playing.

And no way, no how would I EVER loan anyone my copy of Magnification!!!!!!

My wife and I got an import copy of Magnification back in September, about a week after 9/11. We actually found some of it (esp. Spirit of Survival) very hard to listen to, but not because we didn't like it.
My wife is NYC-born and bred, and we'd just been (briefly) in NYC on the way to Wallingford CT for the Oakdale show on Labor Day weekend, so anything that reminded her (in particular) of New York was really tough to take for a good while.

Since then, we'd periodically listen to the album and enjoy a lot of it, but neither of us regularly grabs for it when we're in a listening mood.
I really *like* a lot of the tracks on it, especially In The Presence Of, which we both find spectacular. But the album as a whole hasn't *hit* me as of yet...and it's been almost 9 months!

That may change, time will tell...
