I really hope Roger does the art for the new album. Does anybody have any ideas of what the new album cover will look like?

Only a thought: how about little people in a land with big mountains, trees, plants....
There's sth to do with magnification after all.

I'm almost 100% certain that Dean isn't doing the new cover. I actually know someone who has (or very shortly will) see it but there's no way I'd get any hints out of them about what it looks like ahead of time

I too would like Dean involved but hopefully the music will make up for it. OR maybe the new cover is even better, who knows?

Simon.

Why won't Dean do the artwork?

I have no idea why he "won't", he may not have been asked of course.

I've read that out of all the members of Yes, Roger Dean is closest with Steve. If my memory is serving me correctly...this would be the first Yes album(with Howe on it) since Tormato that won't have Dean doing the cover.

I was only referring to Yes albums that Steve Howe has appeared on.

Yeah, I think only when they were recording TYA, Dean didn't do the artwork... besides, do you know who have the rights for YES Logo?
Yeah, Roger and Steve... that's why Tormato, G4t1 and almost every 80's album hasn't the original logo.

For the longest time, I thought Chris had the rights to the name YES. But, according to Mr. Welch in his book "Close to the Edge", I believe it was Steve that said whoever is in the band at the time has rightful ownership...that being a shared arrangement of course. You know, if true, then at one time, both Mr. Downes and Mr. Horn also had part ownership.
The logo I believe is a Steve and Roger thingy.

Tormato and G4t1 both have the classic logo on them.

That's really odd! So, I think the original YesLogo could only appear if, at least, one of them were working with Yes. In the 80s, Dean wasn't making YesCovers and Steve was in Asia and GTR. When they came back, without Chris, they used another name (ABWH), so Chris has the rights of "Yes".

Hey! Where's Dean? Is he the one who made that purple cover? Maybe the "inscriptions" (at least, they look like inscriptions in my pc) at the background is his work. He must have done inside the booklet or on the back of the box.

OYE is just the classic Yes logo, I suppose that means technically it is a Dean cover, but for me that makes the packaging as a whole even worse than 'Tormato'. You can now see the Magnification cover (albeit very tiny) on the Yesworld site. The classic logo seems to be bleached out against some sort of purple circular schematic design. I think it looks quite promising, good contemporary design. Reminds me a little of the way Apple have updated their logo on first impression...

According to Steve, the band (he isn't included, in this case) wanted a new "way"... I couldn't understand it well, if they say the early 70s albums were the best ones, and Dean was important for them... I can't understand it at all!

This is from the online chat on Aug. 2.....

"Roger is not doing the sleeve for Magnification or the T-Shirts for this tour although Roger is one of my friends, this has been a group decision."

From a recent interview:

"Jeb: There is no Roger Dean on the new Yes CD!

"Steve: I am equally horrified! I was equally outvoted. I didn’t want to change from Roger, not because he is a good friend or a brilliant artist but most of all because he has a way of creating images which parallel and were contusive to our music. I know that we don’t have that. Before in the 80’s they didn’t have that so much because Roger has a certain presence and a certain effect on paper that nobody else has. He is a great artist. We were lucky to have him in the past. I really hope we have him in the future."
